In Charlottetown for a night and we were looking for some good options for a vegetarian and a vegan and much to our surprise we found this little gem. I was not expecting a vegetarian or a vegan friendly place in Maritimes and definitely not in PEI. Were seated quickly and the place wasn't busy, but tables were filled in which was as a good indicator. Disappointed that green tea is not offered complimentary. Ordered a steamed dumplings to start with and Udon Noodles with mixed veggies, Mushrooms with Bok Choy, Spicy Soy Nuggets with mixed veggies. The dumpling were freshly made and good. I anticipated a special Taiwanese menu that would offer something other than the run of the mill Chinese restaurant. There were too many items with "mock ham" or "mock this or that meat" . If the goal was to offer vegetarian then please do not stock the items with mock meat. Food was adequate but not exciting . Decor was essentially the same as the previous restaurant . Service adequate.
My family and I loved the food and we're not vegetarians. We ordered dumplings, curried noodles but the rock star on the menu was definitely the green beans. Also enjoyed the tea selection. The staff was welcoming and the price was very reasonable. We're over the moon about this restaurant. Hope to be lucky enough to return and have more of those green beans and then some.
My daughter loves Scrambled Eggs with Tomato, I enjoy Dry-sautéed String Beans, and my husband is satisfied with Eight-Gem Tofu. A nice place to go if you would like a homemade style Chinese food as traveler. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Terrific vegetarian food with lots of flavour and the best service. We love the black pepper nuggets, the house fried rice and the mushroom and bok choy dishes, but really, you can never go wrong here.
We are regulars, trying the many and varied meals. Relaxing and uplifting setting, with attentive and enthusiastic service. Not for fast meals, though take out is available and very popular.
My husband and I love Splendid Essence! The service is fantastic and the food is excellent! Amazing menu and labelled either vegetarian or vegan! Everything we try on the menu, we love!

Great food, great service. Easily the best atmosphere of any restaurant in Charlottetown. Highly recommended, the dim sum and cold teas are a must.
