Wow! What an absolute hidden gem in Oakland! We just got back from Dallas, craving Texas-style BBQ, and a friend recommended this place. It certainly did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in a welcoming place. People smiled and held the door, and someone even helped my mom, who has a walking disability, to an empty table. They also offered great suggestions from the menu. We ordered the three-meat combo to share, which included beef brisket, pulled pork, and beef ribs, along with two sides and sauces. I have to stop myself from ordering here every day, it's that good! I love deli sandwiches and I've tried many on DoorDash and they've never been tasty enough to tempt me to order again until I found Stay Gold Deli! I've already ordered from here twice in a month. Both times I've gotten the Italian deli sandwich, without any changes or substitutions. It's so good as is. The bread is tasty and soft and the sandwich is packed full of delicious deli meats. The sauces on the veggies give the sandwich a delicious zesty kick. I also tried a bite of the the pulled pork sandwich that I ordered for my husband and it was delicious too. It's definitely going to be one of my go to places from now on!
Charming BBQ spot in West Oakland with a slightly gritty vibe. I’ve been wanting to check it out for a while, especially now that Horn has such long lines. It’s a fantastic place for lunch or a happy hour hangout outdoors. I tried the Riblet sandwich and the Spicy Jalapeño Brisket sandwich. The riblet was amazing—messy but incredibly flavorful and satisfying. Highly recommend it, and I’m excited to try the plates next time.
I placed a last-minute DoorDash order for a sandwich, and they accepted it right away. I was blown away by how delicious my Italian sandwich was! The bread and ingredients were perfect. Usually, I'm picky—I’d ask for a little less of this or no onions at all—but this time, I didn’t ask for any changes. The thinly shaved red onions and the way it was dressed made it incredibly tasty. Absolutely fantastic!

This place is truly a hidden gem . BBQ has that TRUE smoked flavor and reminds you of that old school backwoods BBQ. Mostly delicious barbecue with tender meat that pulls apart easily, yet has a pleasantly thick and chewy texture. The sweet and savory flavors and sauces are spot on. The Texan beans, made with kidney beans, add a nice touch. Overall, it’s worth the money. Food: 5/5
The Italian sandwich was excellent, with crunchy and flavorful bread. The mac and cheese was tasty as well. However, the Texas beans were a bit off; they had an unusual texture, although the sauce worked well as a dip for the sandwich.
Ever since Genova Deli closed, I have been longing for a perfectly done Italian sub sandwich. I found it at Stay Gold! I got delivery through Yelp/GrubHub as I was working from home. It came quickly and was delicious!

My sandwich was packed with flavor! The gluten-free bread was a little soggy, so I recommend requesting it toasted if you choose the gluten-free option. I’ll definitely be ordering from this deli again!
