I ordered the surprise bag from “too good to go app” and even though the price was reduced $8 plus taxes) all I got were 2 different types of cucumber rolls and 1 yam roll. No avocados or fish eggs. Came with a small miso soup that had tofu crumbs at the bottom and a small seaweed salad which was from Costco. I wouldn’t try their surprise bag again. They sell them during the slowest time of the day to make some profit which is a good idea but I don’t think people want to eat so many cucumber rolls. And I don’t think I’ll ever try a sushi surprise bag from any other restaurant. I’m sure it’ll be cucumber rolls again ? Not worth the hassle of picking it up within 30 mins during rush hour.
Sushi itself was meh , it’s a slight step above buying from sobeys. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling so dehydrated/ hungover even though I didn’t drink . I can only assume it’s from the mass salt they used in the rolls .Everyone do yourself a favour and just go to and order from sushi n, 2 blocks further on st Anne’s. They were closed for a family event this weekend, which is what we tried the sushi ai .which I might add was more money, smaller fish portion and lesser quality.Would not recommendGo to sushi n
This restaurant used to have fantastic service and very fresh food. Things have changed. There has been a recent and very unremarkable renovation resulting in space for fewer tables. We went on a Thursday night when they were at half capacity. They had only one server who could not keep up with the dine in tables, take out service, and answering the phone. The prices on the menu have all been crossed out and the quality of the food has declined. Very sad.
My family and I have been going to/ ordering from Sushi Ai since you took ownership. We love your sushi. Always making custom rolls for my little girls not so little anymore we love it here and our kids have been coming here since they were babies : would highly highly recommend!Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating for kids, willing to custom make rolls ! I waited in the parking lot for them to open at 4pm. When I walked in at 4pm, I noticed the tables and floor were dirty, really dirty. I asked the host why is the restaurant not clean? Her reply was that they didn't bother to clean it when they closed on Sunday. Today is Monday. Disgusting . Got up and left, did not order.I used to come here as it was very good, but will not be returning.
Easily one of the WORST sushi places I've been to in all of Winnipeg, and I've been to more than 10. I swear to God I genuinely felt like throwing up.Rolls had: Dragon, Rainbow, Maple, Lobster, and Spicy Salmon.Every single one of them are rolls that are very delicious at other places, but at this place they are disgusting.
My partner and I been going to Sushi Ai for over 3 years, service is fantastic!Their lunch combo is the best!Food is always fresh, beautiful presentation, reasonable prices. It's a small place so it's always a good idea to call to make reservations.The owner and staff are super friendly and welcoming.
2 tables other than us and we waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive. 1 staff member to serve and take phone orders. Was on phone most of time. Our favourite easy, inexpensive and consistent sushi restaurant. Almost any pick off the menu is a safe bet. We’ve dined both in and for takeout, and our experiences have been positive across the board. Highly recommend!
