Long Beach Lakewood sushi has several levels, there's the budget (Awesome Sushi, I Luv Sushi), the mid level to nice (Kihon, Fusion, Kara) the top shelf Michelin worthy (Sushi Nikkei which is theeeee best). I give Kinoya the award for most authentic. Kinoya and Nikkei are our faves. Kinoya has weird hours, you know why? They're so busy they can. It's a very humble establishment but the food is so good. The salmon hand roll melts in your mouth. My husband loves that their spicy tuna roll comes with a chili oil which makes it stand out. I also notice quite a few Japanese guests when I'm here which to me, signifies their legitimacy. My go to meal is the chirashi bowl or salmon hand roll and Bos...
I visited this restaurant for the first time and ordered a selection of different sushi rolls, all of which we really enjoyed. The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and the wasabi was nice and fluffy. The ginger slices were just right. The customer service was outstanding. The space is quite small, so it can't accommodate many guests at once. If you have a large group, it's a good idea to call ahead to see if they can fit you in. I highly recommend this place!
The one and only sushi joint I go to in LBC, going on 20 years now.Legit in terms of quality and freshness. (Unlike some places that distract from un-fresh poor quality by smothering with sauces!)They also get fresh uni from Santa Barbara when in season which speaks to the authenticity of the place—but do call in advance for it!Staff including owner/chefs and servers are always very gracious and welcoming.
This local sushi spot offers a relaxed atmosphere and fresher fish. Their choice to use thicker cuts of salmon is honestly all I need to gain my trust. This place is definitely a gem! It's hands down the best sushi I've ever had. The service is excellent as well. It's a charming, cozy little restaurant, and we will absolutely be returning. We tried six different rolls, and every single one was fantastic...
I'm so glad I discovered this place! The sushi is fantastic, and the service is outstanding! If you haven't tried it yet, you definitely should – I promise you won't be disappointed! Even though I'm not a fan of salmon, theirs is incredibly fresh!
