Friday night takeaway discussion led to agreeing on a place new to us but has been around for a couple of years - 'Sweet Rice'. They had recently conducted a menu leaflet letter box drop and decided to give them a go.We ordered a number of dishes the usual Chicken Spring Rolls, Roti Bread with Satay sauce (sauce was bland), Yellow Curry Chicken and Crispy Pork with Chinese Broccoli. The stand out dish was the soft shell crab with the Apple Salad giving a lovely zing to the dish. The Pad Thai was a little bitter (we like it a little sweeter) and only two prawns were found in the dish however the fish pieces were large and very tasty. My partner and I popped in here on a busy Wednesday night for dinner. From the outside this restaurant is a little unappealing as it is on busy Millers Road, but the interior was pleasantly surprising. I think it may have had a renovation recently and looked great. The chairs were super comfortable and and ambiance was lovely. The wait staff were very nice and offered us water straight away (big tick)I opted for the chefs special crispy pork and Chinese broccoli and my partner had the pineapple friend rice. We visited here for dinner last night with family and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We don't normally eat Thai as in the past the restaurants we have visited have limited choices and are pretty much all the same. Not this one. There were so many choices and what we all had was beautiful. I had Pad Thai which I can thoroughly recommend, while someone else on the table had been before and reordered the green mango salad with fish which I tasted and it was divine. The mussaman curry was also ordered along with the honey chicken. All the food we had was so good and the staff were very polite and helpful. Plus it's BYO which is always good.Nice hidden little gem in Altona.
My husband and I decided to try Sweet Rice restaurant on a Friday night. I checked the reviews prior to our dinner and they were all fantastic which made me a little skeptic! However I can now say that Sweet Rice was definitely not over rated! Every single dish we ordered was mouth watering and the staff was so friendly. It is one of the best restaurants we've been to! Highly recommended!

The food is wonderful here there is so many choices to pick from the menu, the staff are wonderful and welcoming I have had the mussaman curry which I loved the flavours combine beautifully it is my favourite place to come for Thai food and a nice little hidden gem in Altona.
The ford is always fresh and tasty. Fast delivery and generous portions. Reasonably priced with a good range of noodles and starters. I'm partial to their Pad Thai. Spicy and just right for a regular chili eater, you can ask for more heat but it does't need it.
Place has had a makeover. Much cleaner and so much more inviting than before. Vegetable/tofu penang curry is the best i have tasted in a long time and great prices. Will be back...a lot!!
