The price is cheap in Perth no doubt, but the food is poorly made comparing with Taka in the city, when i complaint about the Rice with chicken (Oyako Don) that's full of sauce (mix with water) inside the bowl (almost half of the bowl, yes that's half of the bowl! I never seen it before in any of the japanese restaurant in the world), they just drop the sauce and water into the sink, it's alright at least they are trying to fix the problem, but the rice are all wet and too soft just like congee, so im asking for a replacement.After waiting for 10 mins, they are giving me a new one, but a plain one (plain, without any sauce), they just telling me they are cooked with sauce, and next time i ca...

I eat at Taka's kitchen at least 2-3x per week and I am never disappointed. I normally order the Teriyaki chicken don (number 1 on the board!) and for a large serve including miso soup it is $7.80. Although it does get extremely busy around lunch time the service is so rapid that it doesn't really matter. Provided you don't mind sitting with strangers at the long tables in the middle of the room you can normally get a seat. Having said that Taka's isn't the kind of place that you go to sit and chat over a meal, if you want to do that get your food to take away and go and sit at the seats in forrest chase. Also if you order a large portion to eat in and you can't eat it all, just ask the wait...

Ordered hosomaki platters for a party. Have had these from Taka's before on several occasions but the quality was completely different this time.The rolls weren't put together properly and many were falling apart when I picked up the platters. I would say over half were too loosely rolled; instead of the tight hosomaki rolls you'd normally expect, they were split and spilling their contents onto the platter. Others were oddly shaped, like the person who made them had piled extra stuffing onto the top after rolling. It's a shame standards seem to have slipped (dived?). There are too many places doing nori/hosomaki these days to get away with serving up poor quality like this. I'll be looking...

I was looking for somewhere to eat on a budget and as this place was really busy I thought the food must be good. I ordered a small Chicken Karaage which is marinated bite sized chicken pieces, deep fried and served with salad and rice.($6.50) After paying I was given a buzzer and found a table outside in Shafto Lane. A (very) short while later my buzzer sounded and I picked up my food. It was very tasty and was just what I needed.The larger size meal is $8.50 but also includes soup. It does get very busy at lunch times so if there is more than 1 of you find a table before ordering, table sharing is also encouraged.This is not fine dining but cheap and very tasty food. I usually go to Takas Kitchen in the city (both barrack st and shafts lane are great). I was in freo and wanted some teriyaki tofu so went to taka, it was nothing like the tofu in the city, I was thoroughly disappointed and will not be going back to the Fremantle Taka.

Taka's kitchen is always worth a visit, quick service, flavoursome food, usually busy. If you have a large group, don't expect to turn up and have a table immediately available....plan ahead!

30 minute wait for sushi on a Sunday. Oh and it was dreadful. I wouldn't recommend this place even if you're starving and cheap.
