Eleven of us had a catch up dinner here on Friday night. Seeing some of the mixed reviews I must admit that I went to this restaurant with some trepidation and I had decided that I wouldn't bother with entrees. However the group decided to order a lot of dishes, including entrees, to share and I went along with the flow. The entrees aren't as good as the mains, but much better than expected given some of the reviews I have read on this site. The mains, in general, were excellent. The beef massaman curry was the best I have ever tasted and the choo-chee fish was stunning. The only disappointment was with the Pad Thai, which was one of the worst I have ever had. However...
Six men in our party came for dinner. Décor and service good, food very average! Servings were very small, lacking in flavour. Special fried rice would have been made up of 1/2 cup of UNCOOKED rice, 5 cashews, 6 small prawns and meat off 1 chicken wing. Rice expands when cooked, but AT COST this dish would have not exceeded 70 cents in raw materials! Only one size on offer (small to medium) at a cost of $18.!!We normally order a main meal each and share a portion. On some dishes you are lucky to get one spoonful each!Won't be back.
Good quality Asian food for those who are not feeling too adventuress. The food looked and tasted great but was not anything different or exciting. The service was friendly and the food came very quickly. The restaurant was very quiet, not even some background music to create some atmosphere. Perhaps take-away is the way to go.
Having spent a lot of time in Cambodia and enjoyed the cuisine there, we found the food at Tamarind to be very muted in flavour perhaps to cater to the local taste but that took away the authenticity that we were hoping for. And steamed rice at $4 a person is quite a rip-off even though they say it is unlimited. A finite serve at $2 would be reasonable. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I don't think I've been to a Cambodian restaurant before. Unfortunately I was way too hungry to remember to take photos for here, so you'll have to trust me that it looked great. And it tasted even better. I highly recommend the Massaman (sp?) curry - mild & delicious. BYO anything alcoholic is a plus too
Friendly staff, efficient service, nice ambiance (perfect for a date). Our food came out fairly quickly, both dishes were good size serves, full of meat and seafood, great tasting. Well priced, consistently good, but not 'blow you away fantastic'. It's BYO which is a bonus!
My partner and I come here often. Always fast and friendly service, casual atmosphere and the food is amazing always fresh. Seems to be very popular in the weekends so pays to book.
Great tasty and fresh Asian-Thai-Cambodian style place smack bang in Mt Hawthorn opposite the Paddo (don't hold that against it) it fills up quick so Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
