Bummer Experience at My Go To Japanese Spot So, I 've been to this Japanese place like four times in the last year. Usually, it 's pretty good, which is why I gotta share what went down this time. We went all out with our order couple of appetizers, entrees, and like five sushi rolls. The main thing we were hyped about was the Saba Shioyaki (grilled mackerel). But man, things got weird. When ordering, I asked about the Gindara Dinner (grilled black cod), but the server said it 's a small dish. So, I stuck to the mackerel plan. But here 's the twist when our dish came, it didn 't look like mackerel at all. Mackerel 's usually dark, but this was light. We tasted it to be sure, and yep, definit...
This place has shockingly good reviews. It looks cute from the outside, really tiny and cramped on the inside. It took forty-five minutes to get my sushi, with my poor coworker coming out of the wait with absolutely nothing because the sushi chef mixed up her order. To be fair, the prices are excellent for sushi. But to be honest, don't order the nigiri. My coworker and my boss both agreed that it was best not to eat it. The color of it was off. The spicy crunchy tuna roll was very meh. Go to JP Sushi. The staff there is attentive, and the quality of their food is superb.
Absolutely the best, most authentic Japanese restaurant in all of Atlanta. I was raised in Japan as a child to a military father and a Japanese mother. This restaurant is small, and the service and food are outstanding! If you are near this restaurant and haven't tried this place, you are missing out on a great meal!
Very good food and service. Intimate interior spaces and all sweetly tucked away inside a strip mall! Sushi offerings were interesting and well prepared. The unagi was excellent, along with the tobiko and Ikura! Did not try dessert, but did experience a delicious saki. Looking forward to a return trip soon!
My favorite Japanese restaurant! The sushi bar is small and there are not many tables. It gets full quickly in the evening. Being half Japanese, when I am missing my mother, I go for dinner or get a carry out. It reminds me of my childhood. I have never been disappointed at this restaurant.
We love Tanaka. And we will continue to come here. But we will never be waited on again by Mario. We have had this guy three times and every time has has screwed our order up. Additionally, he is not good.
Authentic Japanese food in Alpharetta! We love the sushi here. They usually have Chu-toro, O-toro and Uni which I really love to eat. Quick service and not too expensive.
Like living in Japan again. Quaint, warm atmosphere with excellent variety quality. Good service as well. Have been going to Tanaka since it opened. Tanaka Ichiban!
