Was in town and decided to give this place a try. Ordered to go. Everyone talks about the original flour taco with beef. This was tasty, puffed shell, well seasoned meat. Adding the spicy salsa makes this an enjoyable taco. The chicken version is decent, just not as well spiced as the beef. For desserts, had the bunuelo which is a puffed flour taco shell sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar served with a small container of honey. The krispos are similar but sliced into triangles. Service was quick. Easy access. Helpful staff.
A very solid, very authentic place to get some Mexican food. Not quite drive-thru fast, but not as long as a sit down Mexican resteraunt. Management keeps the place very clean, I have been in a dozen identical places that were not nearly as clean as Tasty Tacos, so definite credit for that. The food is slightly above average Mexican fare. This isn't a Taco Bell, but everyone knows what taco bell is. If you want fluffy, flour shells, this is the place to go!
Seeing that the order-taker was somewhat dismissive and preoccupied with his phone, I asked in Spanish if it could be done. I also inquired about the cost, intending to pay for it. To my surprise, they offered it to us for free. This gesture truly made my sister's day, allowing us all to enjoy a meal together. Thank you once again! It’s important for more restaurants to be inclusive and considerate of customers' allergies and dietary restrictions.
The chicken flour tacos and flour chips with queso are tasty but could benefit from a bit more seasoning. Aside from that, I have no complaints; the food was prepared quickly and was fresh! P.S. I've seen some reviews suggesting this place offers authentic Mexican food, and I just want to clarify that it's not the right spot for that, but the tacos are still good!
Grew up on this place as a treat. Their soft shell tacos are why you should eat here! They start the meat then finish it inside the taco shells. They now sell their seasoning hot sauce in the Hy-Vee grocery stores.
You can’t go wrong with a couple of authentic tacos! Even though there was a line when I arrived, we were served quickly and received our food in no time. It was fantastic!
This a great place with actual tasty tacos. The shells are homemade and make the tacos. I tried both the regular and steak flour tacos.
Two priorities when visiting Des Moines area, in order: 1. Eat at Tasty Tacos 2. See my in-laws
