Wow, after dining at Tavern on George, I really miss Tumulty's! A giant step back from the beloved Rutgers' Institution that used to be. We arrived at 6 PM, and in nearly 2 hours could not even manage to get dessert before we had to leave to catch a show at State Theatre. Service was slow and inattentive 2 of us were served soup with no spoons, the server never came back so we ate the soup with a fork. The upstairs renovation looks like they were going for an industrial look, but never quite finished the work. The booths have all been torn out and replaced with tables with metal stools. The place is now drafty and has lost the coziness that made Tumulty's the Rutgers date night go-to place....
in this opposite there is little to no atmosphere. there was no single piece wall decoration, no music game, etc. the menu seemed good, but the appetizer were the best we had. the main courts and the “famous” house, which did donuts, were at best below average. the area has the potential to be a “cracked place” and the beer/flügel range was sufficient. the personal was friendly, but not overly informed about their menu when it was about to arrange the specialties in the. I wouldn't go back.

The main dishes and the “famous” house made donuts were below average at best. The dining area has potential to be a “more up beat place” and the beer/liquor select was sufficient. The staff was friendly but not overly knowledgeable about their menu when asked about specifics in dishes. I would not go back.
Perfect night out with my 16 year old daughter and her friend before seeing a show at the State Theatre. Service was quick, food was excellent and reasonably priced, staff was friendly. Short walk to the theater made for a pleasant evening. This was also not our first visit and every trip has been the same. Highly recommend Tavern on George!

This place has keep some of the things we loved about long standing Tumulty's, like the lettuce wedge and train. I'm watching my carbs and when I requested no fries, they offered other options, which was a nice change. Great place for a burger when in New Brunswick!
We’ve came here every year we come to compete against Rutgers. One of the most hospitable spots amongst big ten conference cities. Always a highlight of the trip. Great atmosphere, great service, great food.
Service was a bit out of gear compared to previous visits. Food timing was off. Had to search for server a couple of times. Didn’t have this issue before. Won’t keep us from retuning.
I remember when this place used to be Tumulty's, which brought back some nostalgic memories. I enjoyed a tasty hamburger and had a lovely evening.

Jazz on Wednesday and Thursday nights is always exceptional. The beer is cold, and the fries and burgers are fantastic. Becca is wonderful!
The jazz night at the Tavern on George was truly outstanding, just like it always is.
