I am beginning to become a regular here and love it more and more. The decor is funky and the coffee is superb. The manager / owner is always. super helpful and is not condescending in anyway (which I find a lot of service to be these days). The teA menu is extensive and they always have tasters to try. The food menu is a disappointing short, but what they serve is good. They always whip something easy for my young daughter, and never have a problem having her in the cafe - even though its not quite child friends). Tea Monkey was an excellent tea house in the North Shore run by a Tony, however it sold to Dominos and is now a pizza take away place. (Which does do good pizzas). So although this review is a bit late I must say it was an excellent place to gather your thoughts as it had a calming decor and ambience. Tony offered me some furniture when closing which was really nice of him. He was from South Africa and we wish him well in future projects. People did executive coaching meetungs there- thats how nice the place was.Charles R
This place has great potential. Went there for a light lunch just after a peak in customers after 1pm so service was a little slow given an uncomplicated order. Resident guitar player was fantastic if a little loud in a small venue (but might be my age!). Dumplings were very flavourful so top marks for food when it finally arrived. Attitude of staff was great which speaks volumes so will return. My advice would be to fit in more comfortable seating as it really cannot cater for too many at the moment.

This is my favourite cafe in Gordon: a great place to come either on your own or to meet up with friends. The atmosphere is cosy and relaxed with a choice of lounge chairs or tables and chairs, depending on your mood! The tea is great, and the toasted sandwiches also very good. I understand they also do high tea but bookings are necessary.
This place appears to have closed unfortunately. Tea Monkey offered specialty teas but their food menu was limited. They had a Saturday afternoon live jazz guitar for a few months which was really fantastic and added so much to the atmosphere. Will miss the teas but probably did not have enough to compete on the Gordon coffee scene.
Enjoyed morning tea here today. Welcoming staff, warm atmosphere and comfortable place to relax. I enjoyed a feta & pumpkin frittata with my ice tea! Will certainly be coming back.
