I agree with what others have said - it is definitely not a restaurant to go to if you are looking for a romantic night out. The restaurant can be a bit noisy when you have a few people in there. It can be seen as good or bad depending on what you are hoping for (a bit of noise helps with the overall atmosphere). The waitress was very prompt in coming over and taking our order. We ordered the fish cakes and chicken satays for entrees - both were delicious. For mains - we ordered the lamb shanks, deep fried fish with veges in sweet and sour sauce, and chicken with chilli and basil. The lamb shank (yes there was only one) was ok - it wasn't tough but it certainly didn't feel right having lamb...
As our family has been going here for over 10 years I thought it was time to write a review. We just keep going back because its good honest Thai food. We have a number of favourites including choo chee goong ( prawns in red curry paste), beef mad saman, pork with chilli lime and green peppercorns, deep fried fish salad - the sauce is awesome, seafood laksa and on it goes. Fresh produce cooked well and dishes come with chilli ratings. We love hot food and spent 2 weeks in Thailand in 2012. Coming back to Thai Spice in Canberra did not disappoint. The kids love it too. In the warmer months we love to sit outside with some Singha beers enjoy the food and watch the people passing by.
My daughter and I went for lunch today it was a second choice to our favourite Thai lemongrass as it was closed ... We also found the ridiculous waiter with his fixed grin and an Aussie waitress who had no idea about Asian cuisine believe me when I say no idea!! The entrees were very nice we both had Tom Kai gai then we both had a noodle dish which was very average and had white pepper sprinkled on top - I've been eating thai for many years and never had that before. Their decor is very strange they have these odd polystyrene balls everywhere - not at all in keeping with anything thai that I have ever seen ... Won't be going back anytime soon
Stopped in for a quick lunch break. I should of known notSeeing one thai person there that I was in for some sort of experience. Ordered a curry while a lady sprayed Ajax on the table in front of me and burnt my nose with the smell of bleach for. Dish came out dirty with cold rice. Chicken tasted like it was cooked with Ajax. Went to pay the bill and the man had Even noticed I didn't eat the chicken yet still required me to pay the full price. Will never ever go back to this place. Do not rate this place at all...

This used to be our favourite Thai restaurant and we were devastated when it changed hands. It is now run by someone (not Thai) who doesn't give a damn about the food quality or the service. It doesn't even taste like Thai food any more and the name is a total misnomer - there is no spice at all. The owner walks around with a smug grin - obviously he's making money and that's all that matters. We just won't go there again until he gives up the place. So disappointing.
The ownership of this place changed about a year ago and the food quality has only gone downhill. It has lost its authenticity as Thai food and is someone's idea of what should appeal to the general punters.It has been de-chilli-ised and made very bland. The service is barely there and (on the night we were there) the person in charge wandered around with a fixed grin on his face, without attending to us. This used to be "the" place for true Thai food - it's not now.
Went here once, ordered the chicken and prawn phad thai and couldn't eat the meat. The basic recipe was nice, not too sweet but the chicken just couldn't be eaten it was awful so I left it on the plate. For what chicken costs and the amount that is put into the dish I'm sure it would be worth spending the little extra on buying chicken breast and even charging a little more.. I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend!
We all liked the food but found the senior staff goofy so my teenagers wouldn't want to go again to this Thai . I particularly like the Green Curry here and would go again for that but not as often as I might have otherwise .

I have visited this place frequently. Always fast and efficient service and the quality of the food is fantastic. Good clean flavours and great menu choice. Also great for takeaway.
Really good food and fast service. Can be noisy when busy. Mixed entree is excellent value. Fish cakes brilliant.
