I reserved a table for 9 people at The Bear restaurant, but we were very disappointed with our meal. The Veganuary Pie was terrible, with watery mushrooms in gravy and a sweet potato mash coating. The sweet potato starter was just a baked sweet potato with a small cream sauce, half-grilled bok choy, and a pakora. The fish and chips were good, but when we asked about rosé wine options, we were told there were only two choices. We decided on the Provençal rosé, but were shocked when the bill came and it was £34! We all felt that the prices were way too high for a pub.
great hotel! the 2 watts behind the bar were fantastic. so enthusiastic and looked like they really enjoyed working there. I had only breakfast, but the quality was fantastic again and I think all room prices included breakfast. main reason that I stayed there was for the fact that it has a parking lot. the room itself was a great value and a very good size. bathroom nice and modern. only 10 minutes to foot in the city center, but only something I would say is its tip of a steep hill so that older can fight but taxi is very cheap in the city.
simply fell sohn from his uni digging around the corner of the bear and came here for lunch was nice. the pub has a nice relaxed atmosphere, the staff is very pleasant and can not do enough for them we ask for the pudding after the kitchen was closed and they came hull. can not wait to pick up the sohn in summer to be able to dip again for lunch. at 18.30 am I still full.
Just like to say what lovely evening spent in the bear last night we were the ladies sat on the table at the back of the pub the welcome we had was great and service was amazing all we did was order our wine it was brought to us and even when I asked soda and ice separately it came with a smile will recommend you
Great location, rooms, facilities, staff and breakfast, if you are coming to Bath the definitely use this as your base, good work all at The Bear!
