Was very excited to eat at this place. Brought my whole family. Chicken savoy was fabulous. As we were paying our check, Howard stern whack packer stuttering John walked in. He was very intoxicated and was with an escort. He’s about 5 foot 3 in real life and very out of shape. He kept asking everyone if they wanted a pic. Most didn’t know who he was so it was awkward. As we were leaving, he made his way to our table, he shook my Hand, and then whispered in my 9 year old daughter’s ear that “this place is run by the mafia”… like a typical 9 year old, my daughter answered loudly with “what’s the mafia”? You can hear a pin drop after that. This put a damper on an otherwise pleasant evening.
It's frustrating to see people not bother to read. My family and I live nearby and have been regulars at Belmont Tavern for years. Their menu is uniquely theirs, and they stand by it, which is part of what makes them successful. The charm of the place lies in its small, local, and unpretentious atmosphere. As the owners have pointed out, if you're looking for peace and quiet, there are other places to go, but if you're here, it's for the fantastic Italian food and local vibe. Belmont Tavern, please stay true to yourselves! By the way, "SJ" clearly doesn't understand what they're talking about.
I visited for the first time and anticipated a lively atmosphere. I enjoyed my time there, with great food and drinks. However, I was bothered by a short, chubby, intoxicated man who kept insisting he was a celebrity and wouldn't stop talking about it. He was with a group of friends, constantly bragging about how important he was. He mentioned working with Jay Leno and Howard Stern repeatedly, which got quite tiresome. The most amusing part was when he claimed that he was treating everyone, yet he still seemed to be collecting money from others for tips.
It was fine, except Stuttering John from Howard Stern was there bothering everyone telling us that he was famous, and how you didn't wanna cross the owners, because they were mobbed up. 1. Don't go if Stuttering John is holding court. 2. I guess don't make the owners mad or they might kill you. According to John.

I went here with my family the other day and some short guy was yelling about how he 's famous and pointing at his picture on the wall to everyone around him. He was sitting next to me so I asked him to keep it down and he whispered This place is mobbed up like it 's some sort of threat.
The phone screener from Howard Stern “Stuttering John” said on a recent podcast that this place is run by the mafia. We were planning to try to get a reservation but I think we’ll pass knowing that.
This iconic Italian restaurant in New Jersey offers delicious ravioli and eggplant Parmesan. Please note that they do not accept cash.
The waitress named Eggplant was excellent. She provided great service. I will definitely come back.

The food was excellent; it just needed a bit of potatoes and onions to complement the Savoy dinner.
You won’t find Chicken Savoy better than here! It's famous for that dish. A true vintage gem.
