On New Year's Day, we were in search of hot chocolate but found that our usual go-to spots were closed. As we drove back home, we spotted an open sign along the road, which led us to Nic's, formerly known as the Book Nook. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, reminiscent of visiting a friend's house. We were delighted to find that they could make us hot chocolate and serve us a delicious carrot cake. Despite it not being a busy day, we were grateful to have stumbled upon Nic's. The owners are locals from Thetis Island, and we definitely plan on returning in the future.
newly bought and renovated, this is a great place to relax before they die for a wild windy walk or a sunshine stroll. the coffee is very good and the new menu is quite expensive and fresh. we had muffins, who were very good. a nice cup of coffee on a drizzle tomorrow before we went to the beach. they had not been offered before and we found them tasty and substantially, not something from an instore bakery. a cheerful atmosphere and comfortable chairs as well as tables made this a pleasant warm-up place!
Right by the ferry terminal in Chemainus, this little book store/coffee house is cozy and characterful. The coffee is good the furniture and atmosphere cheerful and cozy with locals and tourists sitting a chatting. The paperbacks are often $4, which makes me think carefully before...buying. I probably would spend more money if the were a little cheaper, therefore 4 out of 5 for a lovely little store in a charming town.
I walked in expecting to find a regular cafe, but instead it was like walking into a living room or a comfortable private library. The books did not include titles that were of interest to me, but I found a few that my wife was...interested in, so I bought three, and a latte and a muffin. Can't fault the service, the coffee, the muffin or the books. Free wifi and comfortable lounge chairs rounded off the experience.
Stepping into this bookstore cafe is like coming home Comfy chairs, warm and welcoming staff and the owner is a hoot! She knows so much about coffee and can describe every bean! I love that their espresso is made with medium roast coffee, on the...day we visited it was a Kona blend. Free wifi, great book selection and outdoor seating in the afternoon sun!
best coffee on the island by far. the medium blend is sublime. rich, full bodied and complex. the dark roast is an example of coffee at its best. all coffee is organic and responsibly sourced. they make their own chia in house. staff and owner...make the place a welcoming and accepting place. the locals make it interesting

beautiful place to stop and take a drink and cool or on their tour through the wall paintings. choose a book and sit them outside while diving. good tasty!
