Service was a bit all over the place, no one greeted us at the door after waiting; we asked one of the staff running around for a table and they were prompt to get us a seat and take order for drinks. I ordered a "Chocolate Heaven" milkshake, my partner a Chai late. The drinks took just under 15 mins to arrive, getting to us 30 seconds before our food - which we ordered a good 5 minutes after the drinks. This is 1. a really long time for a chai and some blended milk 2. pretty much defeats the purpose of ordering drinks before a meal for two very hungry people. The "Chocolate Heaven" milkshake was so light in colour (photo attached), that I wondered if the barista accidentally sent me a vanil...
The Boot Factory is very popular with locals for brunch and lunch. We went for brunch on a Sunday. We were greeted immediately and the service was quick and friendly. Coffees were good and the chai latte was exceptional. All the standard foods were available as well as specials, but the great thing was being able to order exactly what we wanted with a good range of sides available at different price points. The food was well cooked and tasty. We booked, but the café is quite large and able to accommodate quite a few people. The Pentridge site has a lot of history - a book on the old gaol was available to read as well as free newspapers. On-street parking is available. Very enjoyable.
I called into The Boot Factory at the height of the lunch rush-hour and the staff asked me immediately when I wanted to be seated, so I chose a table near the window. I then ordered a Turkish bacon and egg roll, which was very filling and moderately priced. I also ordered a hot non-alcoholic cider. Both arrived within five or ten minutes, I liked the hot cider very much, it was served with a dash of powdered cinnamon and a slice of green Granny Smith apple. Just the thing for a cold winter's day. In all, I liked my lunch very much. The Boot Factory is part of the old Pentridge Prison complex.
Went to celebrate a family birthday and asked for some special arrangements. Present my wife with the bunch of flowers during our lunch and at the end present the already purchased birthday cake with lighted candles and the cooperation was exceptional and could not be faulted. The food was great. Sweet potato hamburger with sweet potato chips, strap back beef strips and a southern fried chicken were great. The coffee was excellent. On leaving I spoke to the manager about the cooperation and friendly manor of staff.

I contacted you this morning spoke with a Bianca and was gobsmacked at how impolite and rude she was on the phone! I understand you're under the pump but under no circumstances is one to be made feel the way your staff did to me. Simple phone manners like good how are you ? How can I be of assistance to you ? Sorry we aren't taking taking any bookings at the moment rather than being rude and abrupt! Absolutely pathetic the way I was spoken to. If your staff are in a bad mood don't pass it on to your customers!
Have been to this place about a dozen times. Never disappoints. Staff genuinely nice. Place has a good vibe. Doesn't try to be trendy. Great food and sensible portion sizes. Good variety. Good for any time of the day. Coffee is very good. Chai too sweet. Great for having a meal on your own or going with the family. You won't feel like a freak if you go on your own (yes, it feels like that when you go to some places). Highly recommended!
Interesting cafe set up. Lots of different tables and chairs. Very cosy for most of it.Food came out relatively quick considering how busy they were. Staff were really friendly.Friends enjoyed their meals and plates were empty so that's always a good sign.My burger was tasty and had some interesting flavours. But $6 for an extra patty when the burger was already $20 was pretty steep.But overall had a great brunch and will be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed morning tea at The Boot Factory from the friendly welcome and excellent service with a smile to the delicious and beautifully presented apple & rhubarb cupcake and coffee. The Boot Factory decor exudes atmosphere and is light and airy; also has a comfortable outdoor eating area which would be great on a summers day.

Their chai lattes are to die for, best chai in Melbourne (and I've been to a lot of cafes and sampled a lot of chai) had lunch here today and the food was amazing, couldn't fault it.absolutely delicious. I had the eggs benny and mum had the soup of the day. Very happy. The service was friendly and efficient. Lovely waitresses. A ++
