on Friday 17th juni, I came to the afternoon with friends. we arrived on time, but waited for 10 minutes to sit, as the waiter had already dealt with someone. it seemed to be personal everywhere, but not much done or people are seen (there were two young people looking for a lighter place?! we were finally sitting and given menus. 10 minutes later, someone came to take our beverage order, the same guy who sat us. He must have been the only one who actually works. he must have forgotten the drinks, not surprising that he is the only one who works, as we had to follow the order 10 minutes later. the same chap came with our drinks shortly after and was very apologetic. the guy who was to see us...
The Hall is a very grand place. Wellington dining room has an ambiance of bygone days. The chairs are comfortable and tables placed apart for privacy. It is also rather cold. The staff were friendly but some inexperienced and others patronising . The food was nouvelle cuisine but poorly executed with tough meat and was cold. Additional vegetables ordered as a side were the same two as on the plate. Portion size was good, presentation pretty, but flavour missing. The menu was interesting but flavours muddled even on paper. mostly its execution was bland.
I said special tea but we actually had coffee, which was excellent and plentiful. there was plenty to eat, all of it delicious, we especially liked the scones light and just the right size. The service could not be faulted a pleasant, cheerful person , who ensured we had everything we needed but was not intrusive. We had a lovely experience in a lovely setting.
From the moment we arrived and were greeted at the door then shown personally to the Wellington Room this felt like a special occasion. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional, the food and champagne were gorgeous. We would definitely like to return and would thoroughly recommend the afternoon tea to anyone considering it.

We had a great time taking our time to order our food and drinks, but we felt that a bread basket should have been offered since we typically don't order starters and mains. The price of the house white wine at £33 was a bit steep for our liking. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable experience with delicious food and a lovely atmosphere.
we enjoyed the cozy tempo of ordering our food and drink, but since we rarely order starter and main courses, it would have been appreciated if a bread basket had been offered. we felt that the price of the house white £33 was too expensive. altogether although a very pleasant experience with excellent dining in beautiful surroundings
Upon arrival we opted to have a pre dinner drink whilst we looked at the menu. We were served by lovely staff and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and made recommendations which were just right. The food was very good. Particularly the bread and belly pork for mains. Will return!
The venue we have used before and it always comes up to the standard you would expect from such an establishment. On this occasion we wished we had selected the Bistro menu the Al a carte was a little to untraditional for our tastes

lovely in every respect. I took my parents as a treat and we all had a lovely time. We all chose afternoon tea and ate it at leisure.
it is one of my favorite restaurants and not missed to maintain a high standard
