A warm and inviting room awaited us on our arrival. The facilities in our room (Alder) were great, from the bath and shower to the comfortable bed, complimentary drinks, snacks, reading materials and games to the friendly welcome at reception (which was located at the sister hotel The Lifeboat Inn). We had a brilliant stay and would consider staying again. One thing to note would be the low ceiling in the room but it was fine for a night or two. The village is lovely and picturesque. It was very easy to get to the beautiful RSPB Titchwell Marsh.
We went to a restaurant in Thornham for dinner and ordered steak and lobster. The lobster was well-cooked and the truffle fries were tasty, but the rib eye steak was a letdown. Despite the high price and description, the steak was of poor quality, gristly, and not properly seasoned. It was bland, poorly cooked, and not what we expected from a dry-aged rib eye. Overall, very disappointing for the price.
We were provided with the incorrect address and could not locate the restaurant. We found the prices to be too high for the quality of the food. The rooms are located a significant distance from the hotel, making it inconvenient to dine at the restaurant. Overall, we were disappointed and will not be returning. Noteworthy details: Arrived at 9pm after a long day. Found there was no one to welcome us, despite informing them in advance and it being confirmed by the hotel. Very disappointed. Service: 1
