I have previously reviewed this pub restaurant, but I only visit because my partner and her son love it. On a positive note, the food was hot and tasty when it arrived, so no complaints there. The atmosphere and ambience were lovely as well. However, the service was absolutely terrible. Our plates were not cleared promptly, causing a delay in our next course. It took 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared and another 30 minutes for our main course to arrive. After finishing our main course, I had to go to the bar to ask for the dessert menu. Visited for lunch with friends, there were 6 of us. The pub was very cold when we arrived and we asked if the fire could be lit. Eventually the fire was lit, but the place didn’t really warm up, we sat and shivered! We all had vegetable wraps which were nice but the service was terrible. The table was dirty when we sat down, we had reserved a table and we’re shown to it so I would’ve expected it to be clean, but it had crumbs on it and greasy food remains. We wanted desserts, but the waitress had disappeared so we paid at the bar and left. Not a great experience!
Booked The Cheshire Cat for my Dad's Celebration of life. We had a room all to ourselves and it was honestly perfect. Cosy, inviting. We selected a hot cold buffet and teas coffees were self-service which was included in the cost. They had a large TV screen that we connected our laptop to, to show photo's of my Dad. Two of our friends are elderly, and one is frail. I asked for a quiet table and this was easily accommodated. Despite being very busy, the staff were all courteous and friendly. My husband and I decided on the beef, venison, and red wine pie, and it was absolutely delicious! It's the best pie we've ever had! The other three members of our group also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Thank you to everyone involved!

This restaurant experience was a complete nightmare. The beer was flat, the wine was warm, the fire was barely lit, and the tealights on the tables were burnt out with no replacements. There was a lack of attention to detail and it seemed like there was no one in charge. This place needs to improve immediately.
Went here for our Christmas Dinner, staff were very friendly, prices reasonable and they gave us a perfect Xmas lunch, beef wellington was to die for. We regularly visit this pub as we travel the canal by boat and it is dog friendly, great team of youngsters who looked after us, highly recommend.
Seriously very under staffed. Food well presented and delicious , but took far too long staff didn't work well together and didn't seem to know what they were doing , decir not very Christmassy, Shame disappointed
Booked a table for two. Met by friendly staff, we were served quickly. Food was hot, tasty and a very generous portion perfect . We were served by Sophie who was polite and professional.

This is the BEST roast dinner we have ever had beyond a home cooked roast. It was perfection on a plate!
Lovely Christmasy atmosphere, the waitress was very polite and friendly and the foot was delicious
