I ordered the oxtail starter and the sirloin with extra strong cheese sauce. Went for Saturday lunch. The food was lovely and higher standard than you would expect in a pub. However, the service was some of the worst I’ve experienced in a long time and let the whole experience down. The restaurant wasn’t full and they didn’t...appear short staffed so I can only assume it was just bad organisation and lack of experience on their part. Once we had finished our meal we sat with empty plates for over 10 minutes numerous staff walking past and ignoring us. We then ordered desserts for two people and one coffee for another the coffee took so long to come we cancelled it as the desserts had been finished and wanted to pay and get out of there. We had a wonderful evening out on Saturday night at this restaurant. The menu was themed around the jubilee celebrations and we had a hard time choosing from all the delicious options. We ended up going with the scallop starters and lobster main, which were both incredible. The dessert menu was also very tasty. The staff were always friendly and helpful, making our experience even better. My husband and I really enjoy coming here and we will definitely be returning soon.
We recently decided to have a sandwich and a beer at this restaurant. The food and service were excellent. While the classic sandwich did cost an extra $20, the quality was significantly better than the standard pub fare, making it worth it. I would have rated this review a 5 out of 5, but I felt that the restaurant decor seemed dated with a lot of 1990s wood covered in gray. A more modern and contemporary environment would better suit the high quality of the food.

Had 4 of us spend a lovely Saturday afternoon here. The pie of the day was lovely and packed with chicken . Lightly battered haddock for my wife with the most lovely tasty chips . Ok it’s 3 more than some other establishments but look...at what you are getting . I have eaten all over the world and this is better than pub grub and worth a visit .
Given the reputation of the chef/owner I was expecting more than just a gastro pub. The asparagus starter was well prepared but the fish course was a little dry possibly overcooked. Dessert very good. Staff almost too friendly.
We were a huge party and the staff coped very well and the food was good. We had to preorder starters and mains but that was not a problem. For a Sunday lunch it was good. I didn’t pay the bill so no idea if...cost
Church green is a regular treat for us to celebrate, but this time it had really stepped up a level. The lamb shoulder starter and monkfish main were outstanding. Highly recommended.

Great food, relaxed atmosphere and lovely staff. The produce is really good quality and we will return again. Can dine indoor or outdoors which is great option.
The food at this restaurant is excellent and the service is brilliant. The fish and chips are a bit more expensive than average, but it is definitely worth it.
