I took my mum for Sunday breakfast, it arrived and had a hair on the plate. It was sent back and I was offered another breakfast. The courtyard has a a lovely look. But is not disabled friendly at all. My mother who is disabled...found it very difficult to get about in there. She also asked for a glass of water whilst eating her meal and was told to help herself. Which was down the other end of the barn.. Staff are miserable and unhelpful and food mediocre and over priced. I did message the courtyard to advise of my experience. They read the message and ignored it. on a beautiful sunny, dry october morning (on Sunday) we drove to the courtyard for coffee and cake, in the hope to sit outside for the fresh air. there was the older waitress with us, no welcome, no smile, said there would be no table for available...Indoors (a few were present, sure they would have sorted something when we were a few with a child). we said we were sitting outside and they said no to serve outside, so we were without option but to go and our business to costa in crosby village. seems ridiculous when they are ready to sit outside on the picnic table on a dry sunny day and they will not serve outside. does it not make sense for the business? from no reason paying customers aw...
We visited here and were given a table for The table still needed clearing so after we sat down a member of staff came over and removed the tea cups and pots from the table. The table itself was dirty and we expected the...member of staff to return to clean it for us. That never happened and the table was left dirty even then they brought our food over and placed it on the table. Looking round we also found the windowsill littered with dead fly's and debris. I know this is located in a farm environment but if you are serving food there is no excuse to leave surfaces dirty. We were also surprised at the cost of the food......expensive for what it is.
This is a lovely cafe in very pleasant surroundings. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Although I have been here before with friends, it was disappointing to find that there were no gluten-free bread or cakes available. A baked potato was the only suitable option....As my friend pointed out it would be very easy to keep some bread or rolls in the freezer and toasted when needed. We often visit this beautiful little cafe, set back from the main road with a beautiful courtyard. The staff are lovely and helpful and the food is the always delicious! My favourite for breakfast is the avocado and feta. The soups are delicious and quiche...too, all freshly homemade. Sorry but how anyone can give this place other than excellent or good is behind me, if you require a table cleaning...ask! If you have an allergy to something then go for something else. I honestly think people these days love to moan.
Called in for tea and toast. Sourdough toast was almost a meal and choice of preserves, marmalade etc to help yourself to. However, pot of tea was weak and I asked for another tea bag only to be told I’d have to pay the price...of another pot of tea! Now I understand cafes have overheads but this is a teabag. And it’s still the one teapot so I’m not going to sit there for hours. We are encouraged to support small businesses and local cafes this isn’t the way to secure repeat business.
no idea what's happening here. on the website searched for opening times, the four cars waiting for to open. just a young man appeared and put a sign on the tor and said that they were closed today and would be open on Tuesday. no explanation, no verbal communication, nothing. this is the second time that we have arrived and that has been closed. after a trip from wigan it is very disappointing. we have been here regularly for a few years, but will not be back.
eating is great, but omg the service is shocking, the young girls in there are beautiful, but the old lady behind the theke is so rude, abrupt and not very welcoming, for such a beautiful place to go, their customer service ruined it totally. that's the most hygienic caffe I've ever been. all the cakes are on the display and on the counter where ordering and payments are made, so they are exposed to customers coughing, even sneezing over the cake. the droplet infection should be at any time a caretaker. I was given a drink with a glass bottle in a drink glass. I hate to think where the bottle stood before it was put in the glass. tables are not cleaned with an antibacterial spray.
