I took my now wife on our first date, in 1970, to this pub then it had a car theme of the then renter told me that he had the carpet specifically woven with pictures of old cars, I can't remember what it cost a place hof, but it was a fortune. what a fantastic place it was when she went into the pub (the had lights at the entrance door) a room was decorated in an original Victorian thema. I was disappointed when I came back a few years ago to find that everything was gone, and it was now just a run of the mill pub. who removed all parts of the motor had no foresight.
I previously reviewed Thorpeys Fish and Chip Restaurant located further north on the A6 last year. I found the fish and accompanying dishes to be satisfactory, but I was disappointed by the poor quality of the chips, which were soggy and caused indigestion. Unfortunately, it appears that the quality of the chips has not improved, and I recommend that they use the appropriate potatoes (Maris Piper). Due to this ongoing issue, I have decided not to visit again.
We discovered this charming pub/restaurant on a bank holiday Monday. The decor and menu are a mix of modern and traditional. We chose to sit outside because the weather was delightful. There were tables available in both the shade and the sun, making it a perfect spot. The food was delicious and the desserts were fantastic. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Plus, they are dog-friendly as well.
Lovely piping hot fish and chips with mushy peas were enjoyed by my friend and I in comfortable and spacious dining room. We opted for the 'smaller ' serving which was more than enough. My only criticism was the meal was served in a basket and we would have preferred on a plate and although bread was included we would have preferred brown bread or at least the option.

Went back for the 2nd time, we were greeted with same excuse, short of staff Food good but very very slow to get drinks waited 25 min for one glass of wine had to ask 3 x!! It's very local to us but we will not be back until we here there have been fast improvement to the service and atmosphere! Sorry to have to write a negative report!
Located in Inskip, Preston, the Derby Arms Carrs Green is a charming country pub with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the customers are also pleasant. The food is absolutely fantastic, especially the delicious chips which are served until 9:00 pm. I would definitely recommend this place and will surely visit again.
this pub regularly visited in the 60s, can remember a car on the flat dach and the beer was woven from miniature petrol pumps and many motorists memorandumilia and old photos of cars with a carpet with old types of cars in them. it was a great attraction in the 60s
Had a chippy tea from the Thorpey's- dreadful. Potatoes soggy on outside and uncooked on the inside and fish was greasy. Back to using Great Eccleston!

Lovely place breakfast was excellent ,judging by the amount of people there a lot of other peop think so too.Our dog was welcome which was great
Excellent food served by very friendly staff nothing is to much trouble for them very reasonable prices definatly worth a visit.
