I've had two very different experiences of this pub in the last week, and felt compelled to write my first ever review on this site (sadly, not a good one). Last weekend the Devi (as it's known to locals) held a wonderful remembrance day lunch, with wonderful food, and songs, where all were welcome. Last night (18th November) was a real eye opener. I arrived at the pub just before 7pm to be greeted by a whole bar full of what I can only describe as lager louts, shouting vulgarities (much of which was misogynistic) and being quite intimidating to those older (and younger) than themselves. To add insult to injury, as they took up the whole of the bar area, I (and others) could literally not ge...
This was my local 40+ years ago, dropped by as I was in the area. Shame the pub games have gone, but still has the friendly local vibe. Done a good job with the beer garden, don't remember there being one. Some good beers on tap.
By far and away the best pub in Bedford. Ronnie and Rebecca are wonderful, welcoming hosts, and the beer is impeccable. A fine place to have a pint during these cold nights (especially when the fire is on). Viva le Devy!
Great traditional pub, all the staff are great, nice little beer garden and the variety of drinks is spot on. Nice place to go to after a walk down the river park, then off to the chippy on Denmark street. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Great pub and good real ale choice great traditional style pub with the benefits of a real open fire on cold evenings and a lovely outdoor area in the summer and warmer days

Went for a Halloween band night. Great gig and atmosphere. Everyone having fun, well managed venue.
