We made a reservation, but the restaurant was only about half full during our visit. It was pleasantly quiet, allowing my family and me to converse without raising our voices, and the restaurant appears to have been recently renovated. With its open kitchen, beautiful decor, and stunning views of the water, we were lucky enough to dine around sunset - it was absolutely breathtaking! All the waitstaff are current students, and my dad had an interesting chat with ours about her program. I believe the menu changes with the seasons, but all our dishes were simply outstanding. While there was a slight delay between courses, we didn’t mind since we were in no rush and enjoyed the beautiful view....
This could have been a very good dining experience but for the awful waitperson we had. Her problem was not lack of experience but lack of interest in serving us. Talking for ten minutes with a local, being totally missing in action for 15 while we waited to order, after finishing our cocktails. We had said we did not want to put in our dinner order with our cocktail order, but really? The waits between courses were very long as we sat waiting for her to clear while twiddling our thumbs. Was she overworked? While we were there she had only two other tables of two, both of which came after us and finished before us. Wonderful spot. Great food, but trying to book a reservation is a complete hassle. This restaurant is connected to the Culinary Institute of Canada. The chefs and attendant staff are all students who are training. I have never encountered anything but pure, ultimate service at this restaurant. Every student here exerts a passion for the food and service industry that is hard to emulate anywhere else on the island. However, there is one caveat, and that is booking a reservation over the phone. Their phones rarely go answered, and often guests are left to leaving a message on their answering service, only to be informed many hours later that the restaurant can not satisfy their reservation...t...
This restaurant is located within a culinary school. While the decor leaves much to be desired, the stunning view of the bay more than makes up for it. Our friendly waiter, who is a former student of the school, provided excellent insights into the menu. We began with a dozen Raspberry Point Oysters, which were absolutely amazing! Next, we ordered cod cheeks, lobster ravioli, and linguine with beef, all of which were delicious. I typically don’t order salmon in the States, but with all the fresh seafood available here, we decided to try the wild-caught Atlantic salmon, and it was fantastic! We were seated at a table with a stunning view of the harbor. The service was outstanding. Our meal began with a delightful amuse-bouche of strawberries filled with goat cheese. We ordered Raspberry Point oysters, which were incredibly fresh and tasty. We also tried the smoked fish platter and the crab ravioli—both were delicious and quickly devoured by the kids. The adults enjoyed the table d'hôte, which included bar clams, smoked halibut Niçoise, and duck confit ravioli, all expertly prepared. The server also made excellent wine recommendations. I absolutely loved the clams with pickled garlic scapes on craackers. The mussels and the mushroom and fillet pizza were also excellent. The service was classically good, but little stodgy. A hipper vibe and less formality would suit me better. Also while the server was attentive and kept us informed of when our food would be ready, the time between courses was a little long. The dining room had a great view, but the furnishings looked a bit dated. All this seemed to attract an older clientele. The menu is great. Would not change a thing, but maybe it is time to freshen up the vibe?
