We visited the Fenwick for Christmas lunch. We were greeted on arrival, offered drinks, and after a very short wait shown to our table. The restaurant was completely full. The table was nicely laid and certainly clean. We had preordered from a choice of 4 starters, mains and puds. For starters, I had the lobster cocktail and the others in our party had the wild boar and venison pate. The lobster cocktail was absolutely loaded with lobster which was clearly freshly cooked and shucked. The pate was homemade and delicious and was served with caramelised onion and roasted plums. We ate here on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime in January. The menu was really tempting and we were spoilt for choice. For starters we had French onion soup which was really tasty with yummy mini cheese toasted fingers on the side. Our other starter was haddock and mushroom risotto which was again perfectly cooked and delicious. Our main courses were also homemade- pies. Our experience of pies in pubs and restaurants is that they can be very variable but these were amongst the best we have had. The fillings were all homemade with high quality meat and great sauces. We were pretty full at this point so shared a homemade apple and raisin strudel. Again delicious and up there with ones we have eaten...
It was ok. The venue is absolutely lovely, the front of house staff cant be faulted and the food was quick. Kids burgers and fries were perfect. I had the pork belly which was not great really, it was quite dry and had clearly just been warmed up. It comes with a mini pork pie which was puff pastry and this was pretty soggy so i presume it had been zapped, same with the mash. The mash was ok. Crackling excellent. I ordered a side of broccoli with chilli and garlic which was over cooked and absolutely drowning in oil. On paper what i ordered was great, the whole menu is, but it was poorly executed. Onion rings good, home made. Goats cheese starter ok. Overall the food just needs a little more...
The restaurant was quite mediocre. The fish curry and braised beef dishes had sauces that tasted like they came from a jar. Despite specials being advertised on the board, we were told they had all been sold out. The restaurant was empty during lunchtime, indicating the specials board was not updated. We paid £99.00 for two courses and one glass of wine each, which was disappointing considering the price. Overall, I expected better quality for the cost.

This is my second visit to Fenwick, and I must say I came back specifically for the Goan fish curry, which is the best thing I have ever tasted. I would have given an excellent rating overall, but the starter disappointed me. The Vietnamese chicken skewers consisted of two tiny pieces of scorched chicken on a bed of salad, which was very underwhelming. However, everything else about the restaurant is excellent.
Managed to find someone to drive us here. It's slightly out of the way for us and there's no easy public transport. We had a charming night with friends, the food was traditional, well cooked and in good portions. The place is lovely inside but quite small, booking recommended. Also the car park was jammed, so people clearly like the place.
My partner and I went to Fenwick for our Valentine's Day date and we were extremely impressed! The food and service were both outstanding from beginning to end. It was a fantastic evening, made even more special when we were given a rose with our bill.
Lovely bite to eat. Driving home and was peckish. Food was just the job. Lovely wood fits, pleasant staff. Lovely interior. No idea they had rooms. Maybe with a look !

Christmas lunch was dire. There was not enough sauce in the starter the Turkey was Turkey roll we were all bitterly disappointed and won’t be returning
Just popped in a drive out and what a find. Lovely staff, a warm welcome and fabulous food. What more could you ask for x
