We wanted to visit for lunch with some rather elderly friends and we were disappointed that they don’t take bookings as our friends would find it hard to wait for a table. However the staff were very helpful when we contacted them on Messenger and said they would certainly have a table for us at the time we wanted, 1pm. We turned up on the dot of 1:00 and the restaurant was almost empty, so no problems with seating! The menu was varied and we all found something we liked the sound of and ordered by 1:10. Visited Fork in the Road with a colleague during a stay in Middlesbrough. I was blown away with the standard of service and food. Excellent shared starter platter followed by Lamb Shank for me and the famous Chicken Parmo for my colleague all washed down with a great priced bottle of Rioja. The chef Jamie and the waitress Gemma were both graduates of the Fork Academy and were just terrific. I would recommend Fork to anyone looking for a great meal that supports a great cause.
Looked for pre theatre eats and alighted on this because of the ethos and good reviews. Although preparing for some works parties we were made welcome and drinks were served quickly. Reduced menu cos Christmas but still good choice. We had the sharing antipasta starter which was lovely and then fish and chips for me and the famous parmo for my companion. Both were rated excellent, finished with coffee and the bill was most reasonable. When next in Mboro.........
5 stars! The best brunch in Middlesbrough! The food is outstanding and the service is unbelievable, nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant atmosphere is perfect and it is spotless. The value of the food is amazing. After visiting many restaurants for breakfast and brunch in Middlesborough, Yarm, Norton, and North Yorkshire, The Folk in the Road stands out by far for us. I cannot stress enough how much you need to visit The Folk in the Road!

This restaurant is perfect for a professional business lunch. The meals were well-cooked and the staff was very attentive and accommodating. It's an ideal spot for professionals to discuss numbers over a delicious meal.
Went here as quite a big group of friends and I couldn’t praise it enough. The food was great and the staff were more than happy to help with anything we needed. Lovely lovely staff.
Had a great lunch here would definitely recommend. Good service and really great food. Shared crab cake starter, steak for mains with fantastic chips but there etr far too many.
Popped in for lunch had crab cake Starter was very nice the followed with a lamb shank which was outstanding, huge portions too. Best restaurant around !

I read the reviews beforehand so I was expecting more. Menu very limited, food very average. Sorry but I will not be returning.
