We were in Jedburgh for a few days and trust me it was a struggle to find a place to eat as most restaurants were either fully booked or closed! Anyway after attempting to book twice and failed due to being fully booked we managed to get a booking on the Monday night as we had recommendations from local shop owners (as well as our B&B people) to go and eat at the Forresters! Day 2 of our St Cuthbert 's Way walk and we were in need of a good meal. And that is exactly what we got! My 2 companions both cleared their plates but the Rabbie Burger beat me. To confuse us foreigners the place also goes by the name Belter 's Bar . I hope I 've got that right. A very welcoming pub with a nice area more of a Restaurant area upstairs. Invited to stay near the bar until the table was ready although we could have gone straight to our table. I won't lie the moment you walk into the restaurant are, it looks like a run down tired bar, with bar carpets and a dated appearance, but do NOT let this put you off. We travelled down for an event last night and popped in before it started. I worried it was going to be cheap style normal pub fare and I was so wrong. In fact, I will even go as far as to say that I would make the 2 and a half hour round trip in the future solely to eat the foot. I had the BBQ burger with layer after layer, I had no chance of getting my mouth around it. I enjoyed every moment of it, couldn't finish it but oh how I tried. This restaurant is unbelievably good, The choice on the menu was extensive, when the hot food arrived it was cooked to perfection and was faultless, one of the best meals ive had in a long time, the bar manager and manageress were really friendly and accommodating, we will definitely be returning here very soon, defo 10 out of 10.
What a find!! Behind a rather unprepossessing exterior we had gin and tonics better than anything we’d had in Edinburgh and steaks which were plump and cooked superbly. Lovely banter with the couple running the place- we were walking the St Cuthbert Way and this was our stand out meal of the whole trip!!!
I cannot praise the chef enough, had 'Scottish trash '. It was absolutely fabulous. The steak in the dish was cooked to perfection, haggis beautiful, I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I 've had for a very long time. Please do not pass it by! Awesome.
We were recommended by the b b to eat here we weren’t disappointed. Excellent choice of food cooked 2 perfection friendly staff. Al 8 of us had different meals they were all hot were served 2gether. We will return.
What a wonderful find! Amazing menu- an astonishing array of fascinating street food and imaginative burgers. Food is extremely well prepared and cooked and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.
Amazing value for money I had the surf and turf Mrs c had the lamb the place is a little tired but the food and the couple who run it far outweigh the decor but I would advise to pre book a table
