I would like to start by saying I'm a big fan of the fox and eat there often. Today, however, I was disappointed. Having booked a table in the bar area, I went to the bar to order my food. There was only one member of staff behind the bar, and he was busy getting drinks for the restaurant. After ten minutes, I had to ask a female staff member who was hovering around the bar if she could take my order. After sitting down, I waited and waited, and eventually I asked another female member.If she could find out what had happened to my food, as myself and my father had waited what seemed like forever, she went off and came back very promptly and advised us it wouldn't be much longer; 5 minutes la...
Eight of us went for lunch. We had booked for the ‘festive menu’. When we first arrived, the place seemed understaffed, and drinks were very slow coming and there was a queue at the bar. It was some time before we were able to order, and we discovered that many of the items on the ‘festive menu’ well apparently not available. We decided not to use the festive menu and then mysteriously enough items again became available Due to the intervention of what I believe was the manager. The food was certainly not outstanding and varied between the under-cooked and overcooked. Looking forward to a lovely meal as The Fox is not the cheapest, and the car park is always mad busy! However, we were disappointed. Starters were all good, but mains were a let down. Chips were hard and luke warm. Gammon steak was about 3mm thick and luke warm. Fish was presented on top of the chips so you couldn 't even see them. Buttermilk chicken burger was overcooked. Three out of five of us could not the have the puddings we 'd ordered as the oven had broke . Mini berry pavlova was just cream (couldn 't find any meringue). And finally, the disabled toilet could do with a make-over. (I know its a functional necessity, but it really wasn 't a pleasant experience). We left still wondering...
Whilst the food was great and the place lovely the service was exceptional slow. Our table was booked for 7.30pm all was going well until we was told no Turkey was available...we had all planned to have the Turkey as this was our yearly Christmas meal with friends. There was only the 4 of us so had been told we didn't need to leave a deposit or preorder. We was treated well and despite our disappointment all enjoyed the food. My warning is if you want Turkey pre order your meal to save disappointment.

I had a Christmas lunch at this restaurant with a large group. Despite the place being very busy, we were served well. However, parking was difficult to find. I started with the scallops, which were delicious and highly recommended. The main course was a festive turkey with all the trimmings, although I was disappointed by the lack of Yorkshire Puddings. My dessert, the poached pear, was a let down as it was cold and watery. Overall, it was a good experience, aside from the dessert.
Bustling restaurant with a great atmosphere and some great food choices. However, there are many more tables there now and they don't hire enough kitchen/bar/wait staff to cover at busy times. Drinks can be 30mins wait, let alone wait times for food. At least 5 food choices from the menu were sold out. It's a shame as if they had better staff:cover ratios then it would be a great evening out.
We enjoyed a terrific Festive Lunch at this popular pub. The staff were friendly and very well organised. The dining room was completely full with Christmas parties, but we were served at a reasonable pace, and all our orders were exactly right. Staff were helpful and efficient. We would definitely return for another group party.
As per usual the food at the Fox was brilliant. Everyone enjoyed their meals from starters through to dessert. Excellent wine choice too. The best fish and chips ever. Thank you to all the staff at the Fox for your hospitality and excellent service. We will be back.

We visited to meet Father Christmas who was amazing. The food and staff were great. We weren’t rushed to see Father Christmas and the whole family could join brilliant.
