Carin and I found this restaurant online while asking for restaurants in Northumberland County. Kirsten and Dieter (our hosts) made us feel right at home. A beautiful room and a wonderful setting for a lovely evening with my wife. The restaurant has a good selection of wines and the food and it's presentation are terrific. The escargot are tender and tasty, as was the tenderloin of beef my wife had. My four generous lamb chops were cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.This is a must do dining experience, but get your reservation soon - last res Wednesday to Sat 7 30 pm
We were 10 ladies on an out-of-town book group visit. Our table was waiting for us in one of their private dining rooms and Inga filled our drinks order perfectly. We all ordered something different from the menu and none of us were disappointed. The soup was seasoned just right and the salads were artfully presented and tasty. I ordered the home-made pasta with shrimp. Nicely cooked pasta and the shrimp was done perfectly. The family were delightful to chat to....and bookies, like us. We had some great discussions on the 'latest reads'. Highly recommended. Reservations a must.
We had the opportunity to visit The Gables Saturday night for dinner. What a fabulous experience. An older original home in the area converted to a small, intimate restaurant. The selection for dinner was just enough to satisfy anyone's needs. We had the veal schnitzel, salmon, and duck breast. Everyone enjoyed their food. The service was superb, food was piping hot when it was served. This was our first visit, but it certainly won't be our last.
My husband & I spend a night in Belleville, Ontario June 2017. We were looking for a fine dining experience..We had a quick look at TripAdvisor and found this listing. With a short drive from Belleville to Brighton we headed over to check out The Gables Restaurant and it was a delightful experience. The service was great the the food delicious. Went for dinner with one of my good clients. What can I say? I go here for more than 15 years. Very dependable good service and very good fresh food. Always fresh and no preservatives added. The have renovated the dining rooms and I always know that the food is prepared hot and fresh. If you are in doubt what to choose, ask the waitress which is usually the wife/co-owner. I keep coming back.
Had lunch here and was really impressed. We had a lovely butternut squash soup, followed by an excellent wiener schnitzel and yummy apple strudel. Great friendly service, a charming ambience make this a place to return to. Not cheap, but quality is always worth paying for.
