quiet and friendly staff, comfortable room, good eating. kitchen in front of the house seemed good to run in an efficient but relaxed atmosphere. portions were good. our room was spacious and had a private balcony that was a bonus. the prices were good and so a good stay. in the rule the hotel corridors and stairs a little 'tired', but otherwise satisfactorily accommodation. our was a larger room with 6' bed and a lot of space, but only a chair and no sofa, which is a little disappointing for a 'experienced room. yet it was worth money.
Generally a good stay at the George Hotel. Good breakfast. Good service and welcome. Would have preferred an earlier check-in time. 4pm seemed later than usual even in covid times. Secure parking available but limited. Access tricky, and risk of being blocked in as we saw happen. Check if your car will be OK. Room was fine. Lighting could have been better; a bit subdued in the bedroom. Access to 2nd floor is an issue with any sort of mobility issue. No lifts. Frome was a very unexpected pleasure. Lovely town with plenty to enjoy.
I was at a high time for a night. the personal went out of the way to make my room available early, which was very appreciated. the room was clean, the shower was excellent and the bed was comfortable what more they want? it is a very old building, and I have beaten the head several times on the deep doorway between the room and the bathroom, but this is definitiw my fault! the breakfast was fresh and tasty and the entire staff I treated was very friendly and accommodating. I'll stay here.
Stopped in Frome for lunch today at The George. Being a coeliac it can be difficult to have a safe gluten free meal, but I was met and helped by two lovely, helpful ladies. Vicky was one but i did not catch the other ladies name. it certainly was service with a smile and i was able to have beer battered fish and chips. {made with gluten free beer} What a result. Despite the slight smell of stale cigarettes in the room, my stay was overall very enjoyable. The room had all the necessary amenities such as fresh towels and toiletries. While the room was small, it was sufficient for a one-night stay. I was pleased to see that the remote control had functioning batteries, as this is a common issue in many hotels. Overall, a positive experience.
a beautiful hotel, immaculately clean and comfortable with excellent homemade meals and real ales. very helpful staff we would recommend. frome is a beautiful city with scenic shops and scenic walks. thank you, chris. lucy and her team to make our stay so nice.
evaluation of Sunday dinners: on a very busy market day we had the pleasure to find a table in the dining room. eating came on hot plates with large service. really tasty chicken and booze with all circumcisions. everything was right. highly recommended.
This hotel is charming. I have visited twice and the menu offers a great variety, from traditional pub dishes to Asian cuisine, all expertly prepared and reasonably priced. Frome can be quite costly for dining out, so this is a welcome find. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Lovely helpful, friendly service. If only they served no/low alcohol bitter they'd get 5*. Such a shame as the staff were working so hard but they can't control the options. It's not just lager drinkers who drive for a night out!
