This restaurant had been an Eastwood institution for well over 40 years and I hope it never leaves. Eastwood had changed dramatically over that time but the Golden Wheel hasn't it's still serving the same fantastic Chinese with an Aussie twist that we all grew up with but has mostly gone long ago. The service couldn't be friendlier and more personal, the servings are genourous and the prices very reasonable. The restaurant is fully licensed so accepts byo wine or buy from their fully stocked bar. The restaurant is large and generally quite so suitable for groups of any size.
From the time we walked in to the time we left we were made to feel welcome. Great service in a family friendly atmosphere. Food was excellent and good size portions were provided, ensuring no one walked away hungry.Wine sizes were generous and wine was of fairly good quality. This place reminded me of the Chinese Restaurants I used to go to as a kid. We sometimes get caught up in how a place looks rather than what we are there for, which is a good feed and time with friends and family! I would definitely recommend the place for eat in or takeaway.
We enjoyed a Saturday evening visit - Becki likes to arrive early. Golden Wheel has been trading as a family business for a very long time and the family know the preferences of their customers. We had a simple sang choy bow entree, sizzling steak and satay chicken with boiled rice. We were well looked after and Becki was very happy - it is one of her favourites! It is a special niche in Eastwood to cater to the Australian Born Chinese market!
First of all, the folks who run this place are a family, and run it as such. You feel cozy in there, very friendly folks. The food is not quite the same as other Chinese places, one could say they are Aussie-fied versions of the traditional menu. The chef is the best at deep frying, but flavors can be hit or miss. The place is a little old and rundown, dimly lit, modern credit card functions seem to be absent. Would recommend though!

Good old dependable food at a reasonable price. Food was excellent, my favourite being the satay beef (without the onions! . Great friendly service in a setting that invited good conversation. Love this place. I would recommend for both eat in and takeaway.
I really loved the vibe here. The staff are very friendly and relaxed, making us feel very welcome. The food was good and reasonably priced. I would come back again.
This place has been in Eastwood for over 40 years & is a step back in time right down to the click, clack credit card swiper but is all the better for it.
Exceptionally good service. Makes you feel at home and you are served personally. You won't get this anywhere in Australia. Food is average.
