The Graham 150 Years On, Baysides Favourite Gastropub Is Open For Lunch And Dinner, 7 Days A Week.

This is not actually about the proper, posh restaurant at the front, but about The Graham's Wine Bar at the back. If you're not in the mood for a starched linen, fine diner, but like fine eats, this could be for you. The Wine Bar is open Tuesday to Thursday from 4pm, Friday to Sunday from 2pm and has a cosy luxe feeling. A pretty chilled place filled with regulars, a mixed crowd and popular with over 30's. We dined here as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine lunch special. We were promptly reminded of this as we sat down to our menus. The cheap lunch meals reflect this both in size and the speed in which they come out, we were informed. Also in the (not so) welcoming speech, 'we are told to join this lunch special to market our name, then we try and up sell. ' Really? An amazing weekday lunchtime deal in a classy venue. One of my favourite things is an express lunch menu and the Graham does this particularly well. From Monday to Friday enjoy 2 courses and a glass of wine for $35. Music to my ears, stomach and purse. I chose the salmon with dill potato salad followed by the deconstructed rhubarb desert with a glass of Riesling. My husband opted for the mushroom orrechiette and the pork belly. Our waiter helpfully suggested that the mains are slightly smaller and we may wish to bolster it with some kipfler potatoes and some veggies. We agreed. The Graham is just about perfect. A fantastic drink in the wine bar, where you're spoilt for choice with the extensive wine list, followed by a sumptuous three course dinner. The menu has recently changed, and apparently a new chef from Taxi Dining Room fame has arrived. But the new menu is just as superb as the old a fantastic array of choices, all cooked to perfection. I had the scallop and eel tortellini, followed by the John Dory and then the quince and gingerbread dessert. All were fantastic but the dessert was totally sublime. I thought my friend was taking me the wrong way and I never would have stumbled upon this place. Glad she took me here, though. The wine bar is where we planted ourselves for a nice little catch up over a glass of three of beautiful wines had the Rose and thought it was fantastic. Could have downed a bottle if it had been a rough week. The menu is very interesting lots of small plates and fun choices like chorizo croquettes and oregano fries. Definitely worth a visit and I would certainly recommend stopping by. It is a beautiful place with good food and very nice service. And a fantastic wine list.

I came here on the weekend for a drink in the sunny courtyard. The courtyard is very small, but seated a couple of diners alongside me and my drinking partner. We were happy with the selection of wine by the glass, but there was just zero ambience here. There was no music or any background sound, making it awkwardly silent when sitting so close to the two other dining couples. The tacky/sticky varnish on the wall seating also ruined my clothes :

This Hotel is often an easy one to drive or walk past, but once you stumble across it you will be glad that you did. The Graham Hotel offers both a modern relaxed, and intimate dining setting. Perfect for a special occasion or a date. Entree: $14.50-$20.50 Mains: $26-$34 Dessert: $11.50-$25 They also offer a gorgeous wine bar that offers offer 25 carefully selected choices by the glass, along with appetizers produced by locals.

I am a local and have always enjoyed the great food and service at The Graham. Sadly since new ownership our local is no longer the place it use to be. Service is non existent. Staff too bust chatting to serve. Food quality was disappointing to say the least. No one likes cold chips and soggy pasta. The diminished wine list was also disappointing. Regrettably The Graham is closed. It had received excellent reviews but ceased trading a few years ago. There have been signs of is renovation but the windows have remain covered. Mail is being collected but no signs so far of when or if it will be reopened

Best restaurant for special occasion. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, sophisticated food and matching wine. Also they serve great Long Black.
