We came with high expectations, as this was the best restaurant in Lingfield . The welcome and service was very pleasant and the atmosphere warm and inviting. I didn 't listen to the price of the special beef dish (as the general level of pricing was not cheap, but appeared reasonable) so I was very shocked when I saw it was just under 30 pounds. The crab starter was unexceptional, really poor value with a few clumps of crab strings interspersed amongst the greens and my beef was maybe 150gm if that !! It was however, tasty. My wife 's pork dish was excellent.
Hectic to start with as they had an electrical problem and no electricity for the first hour. Service was a bit slow to start with which was understandable due to the backlog of orders; with 9 in our party we waited for them to catch up. Once we had ordered the service was excellent, the food was very tasty, ballotine of quail was very good, the ribeye steak was good and the 3 times cooked chips were to die for! Panacotta was a bit disappointing. Overall an Excellent birthday treat for our Mum!
Great ambience, loved the feel and great front of house service. Really quirky and different, think it was a tad over priced, very limited vegetarian options, steaks fabulous (though we asked for them medium rare and they were definitely medium), we asked for mash and got chips (which were yummy), dessert was burnt but we ate it. Super bread and Mis bouche, would go again, maybe it was just an 'off ' night. Clearly very popular, glad we booked
Food was at best average. Expensive and then you have to pay for your sides on top. Chips £4.95!!! Would not eat here again, building needs external decoration as do the toilets. If a pub is full then normally a very good sign this pub was empty now we know why. Sharpen your act or reduce your high prices. One positive comment the waiting staff were very polite and efficient.
I have eaten at the restaurant several times now both for lunch and dinner. It is always amazing food, weather its the individual servings of freshly made bread sticks and dips, through to their amazing choc foundant desserts. A small and quirky venue that delivers everytime.
The Hare and Hounds Lingfield good food but real lack of starters. Wine is expensive but other drinks OK. Good atmosphere in pub. Did not have the offer as only choice of 2 starthers, 2 main and 2 puddings.
Our third visit to the Hare and Hounds and the food was as excellent as ever. The bar was packed and a little noisy at first but then added to the atmosphere.
Excellent meal our second visit at the Hare and Hounds. Wonderful food in a relaxed atmosphere. A place to remember!
