We went for Sunday Lunch on 18th. The Car Park was busy so we had to park in the over flow car park. We had booked for a family of 10. The inside and outside area was busy. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming even though we could see that they were under pressure. We all had the roast dinners and everything was cooked to perfection. We regularly come here and always tell friends and family to visit. Make sure you pick up the meal vouchers at the end of your visit. We will definitely be returning soon.
Went for a late Sunday roast only to find they were sold out. Unhappy staff ! Meals from the menu were disappointing and took a long time to arrive. The rice in the Tikka Masala was watery. The steak and ale pie arrived with a coating of gravy, even though the gravy was in a separate pourer. This was to disguise the fact it was burnt. The pie should be relabelled as Ale pie,as there was very little steak visible in the pie. Needless to say we won't be back!
Pre booked on the Saturday morning glad we did, as it was very busy they didn 't have any 'walk in ' tables left. Staff were very friendly, helpful efficient. We 'd read previous reviews as those, we weren 't disappointed all the food was well priced, fresh, well prepared presented most of all, lovely tasting, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The beer on tap was excellent too. Thanks.

Called in here on Sunday 7th August for Sunday lunch. This was the worst meal I have ever had, the beef was tough and inedible, the vegetables tired and wilted...the broccoli was yellow. The portion size was generous but I would prefer less food but...
We stopped at Smithy cottage for five nights and had our evening meal every night at the pub. Darren and his staff were very courteous and very friendly the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I would recommend this place to anyone.
We came upon this pub when we had decided to walk the canal tow path nearby and stopped in for lunch with our two dogs. I was very impressed with their outside area and were able to sit there with our dogs a good distance...
Travelled past this pub for the best part of 50 years but never stopped, what a mistake. I can say the food was excellent and the staff a credit to the management. Thanks for a great experience
We called on way back to lichfield to meet family and we all had a different meal I had the best salmon risotto I have ever had fabulous staff great service Will be back .
