It has been a while since we dined at this restaurant. We were very impressed with the new decor. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. They did not rush us to our table, allowing us to relax at the bar with a drink. Our server, a polite young lady, apologized for a slight delay, even though we did not feel inconvenienced. The restaurant was busy with a large group, which may have been why she felt the need to apologize. Nice restaurant in a local pub environment. Good selection of choice. Thought the starters were slightly overpriced and quantity was disappointing. The main course was better value for money and of reasonable quality however the meal could have been served at a better temp. There seemed to be a delay in the meal being rung as ready and the serving team getting the meal from the kitchen to the table. Desserts were very good. Overall our bill came to £110 for a table of three. Nice location, good choice of menu but perhaps we thought the quality could have been better achieved on this occasion. We would return.
The food was nice and the staff were friendly. I think our expectations were quite high because of reviews and that they had to take card details on booking but we had to wait over a hour between courses and it wasn't very busy. The waitress did apologise but only once they brought mains out and just avoided eye contact in between. We still had a nice time and would return.
I had a pleasant dining experience overall. However, there were a few issues that prevented me from giving a five-star rating. I requested a side salad without onion, but it came with onion. I ordered a steak cooked 'blue', but it was served medium rare. Additionally, I asked for a dessert with custard, but it was served with ice cream instead.

This is a lovely pub, with friendly service and excellent food in the middle of a lovely village. We've been here many times and never had a disappointing meal. The staff are great, and the place has a warm and traditional ambience without being old fashioned.
Loved our meal! Great value for money. Staff friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere warm and inviting. Sunday well spent!
