I organised a surprise party for my wife in the upstairs area of the Market porter and the whole event couldnt have gone better. Meghann was fantastic in advance in helping me to organise the event and in making sure I got what I was...after within my budget. On the night the staff were great, friendly, but working very hard. We did some cheesboards and other snacky food which went down really well with the guests. If you are looking for a reasonably priced private hire room in London then look no further
we went as a group of 8 on Friday night and ate in the restaurant. Although we booked, there were surprisingly tables free. we had the fish and chips, cake of the day and steak. the fish and the chips were excellent, especially the haddock, very. good quality, thick piece fish, crispy teig. the cake was also delicious and I say the steak was excellent and that comes from an Argentine. the service was also very good, our waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Had heard good things so booked the restaurant for Sunday lunch. It was disappointing. The beef was quite tough and the Yorkshire pud looked like an Aunt Beast’s frozen one. The carrots and parsnips were sliced thinly and were not roasted. Parsnips were hard. The...roast potatoes looked like they had been pre cooked and left for a while not crispy and nicely roasted. Shame. Other food may have been better but I would not recommend the roast.
We arrived a little early on Easter Sunday and the staff were great from the start. We all had different Sunday Roasts and the portions were very generous. The service was great and although we were a little noisy it didn't seem to be a...problem. The upstairs dining room is away from the pub and was a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon with family who had arrived from the US the day before. great beer and mostly great eating that we have come here for more than thirty years are always reliable for a great pub lunch, until today the fish and chips had to be returned, as the dilig was not cooked and the second return was still unusable. a great shame as our previous experiences have always been great. Bar staff were courteous and friendly, but this kitchen will give them a bad call scandal
We were visiting Borough market and with it being a Sunday (and six nations) we wanted to find somewhere nearby for a roast and to watch the game. Located directly outside the market, this has a great location. The staff are very friendly we...had to wait for a table so we could eat but luckily that didn’t take long. Between us, we had a lamb and a beef roast. Really couldn’t complain. Thank you!
Cannot fault this place after a hard days work. My partner and I had brilliant service! We was outside having a drink in the freezing cold weather they offered to put the heater on until they could get us a table inside. Within 15 minutes...we have a comfortable table inside with a fire, we can’t fault anything all staff was polite and friendly. The food was lovely. Thank you
a short love story. burrough market is crazy. hot day. Hundreds of people. frantic. market porter. older and most sought-after pub in london. especially if they are a tourist. but go upstairs. This is a great place for lunch right by Borough Market. The upstairs dining room is relaxed with with friendly service. For anyone who likes real ale with their traditional fare this little gem is hard to beat.
