I am ashamed to state that after 12 years passing by , as I noticed this pub had changed hands many times , I booked a meal for two last Saturday evening and I was so happily surprised! The pub is so cosy in half light and just such a kind and warming place. The staff are fantastic and the food equally fantastic. I had thought , ok, pub food but it was all natural and home cooked. You can take your dog too! There was a man singing which added to the ambience. What a great place and that will teach me for not stopping by before ! Don’t judge a book by its cover! The Monkland Arms is a fantastic place to eat and to chill with friends! Well done to you !
After a hiccup with the pub not receiving our booking through opentable mast glitch we think. We were greeted very pleasantly and the licensee and staff were welcoming and apologetic. The ambience was cosy and homely with a good choice of background music which was played at a level which was not intrusive. There was a good and varied menu and our choices were promptly and were extremely tasty. We had a lovely evening and as a group we can recommend the creamy mushrooms, whitebait and sausage with mustard mash.
We thoroughly enjoy dining at Monkton Arms for Sunday lunch. The food is top-notch, and we have been enjoying trying different items on the menu. I personally love the roast lamb, followed closely by the Tartan chicken. The owners are incredibly friendly and conversational. The atmosphere is serene and the pub is adorned with intriguing pictures and ornaments. The selection of ciders is exceptional. We will definitely be returning in the future.
We had a great time at The Monkland Arms this past weekend. We received a warm welcome and the staff took good care of us. The food was fantastic, freshly prepared, and the menu offered a wide variety of options to suit different tastes. We also enjoyed some delicious local cider. As an added bonus, there was a wonderful folk band (The Stoned Cherries) performing, making it a fantastic evening overall. Thank you.

The food at this restaurant tasted homemade, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was very inviting. The place was also kept very clean and organized, with an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients.
My friends’ Golden wedding anniversary... it was all just so lovely Great food ... they loved the apple and parsnip soup and their favourite was the rhubarb crumble All the food was superb. Thank you

Lovely staff and good food. Couldn't drink because I was driving but the beers and ciders available were fantastic. Deserves to do well.
