I 've been wanting to try take-out from The Northside Inn since the whole lockdown began, as they are right around the corner from where I live. The last time I ate there was when I was a teenager. We finally 'took the plunge ' on Saturday evening, and ordered. We ordered delivery, which arrived on-time and still piping hot. I ordered the Gnocchi, and added two meatballs. Salad and bread were included. The Gnocchi was AMAZING. Possibly the best Gnocchi I have ever had. Soft, light pillows of goodness in a delicious tomato sauce. This is an amazing old-school Italian-American restaurant. I ate here with a large group while visiting Rochester for a weekend conference. It was the best banquet meal I have ever had, by far! You expect lower quality when a group of 50 is served, but that was not at all the case here. Everything was fresh, still hot and delicious! We brought my fiancé 's grandmother here as it was her request for a late Xmas gift. We didn 't have reservations but I could tell upon walking in that they are probably encouraged. We got a table in the back dining area which was spacious, cozy and kind of romantic feeling with the dim lighting. I actually loved the atmosphere. The fresh bread is delicious and came out quickly right before our salads and soup. Salads were very good and had lots of yummy veggies. For many years, my family used to frequent The Northside Inn for our special occasions and weekend dinners. However, after my siblings moved away and my father passed, The Northside became a fond memory. That is, until last weekend! My brother and I were visiting our mom when he suggested going out for dinner. He suggested going to The Northside Inn, which brought back happy memories. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Don, which reminded me of how my father would have enjoyed being treated as a regular customer. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. They are usually not open for lunch but they hosted my family after a funeral for my fiance's grandmother. We had a comfy private room that seated about forty people. There was hot coffee and soft drinks for us to take at our leisure. The chef prepared a buffet for us and it was amazing. There was a house salad, eggplant parmesan, chicken french, greens beans, and ziti. It was pure perfect Italian food. I was obsessed with the eggplant parmesan and even got seconds of it. It was a perfect place to meet up with old friends and enjoy company after a day of celebrating one's life. Thank you so much Northside Inn.
The Northside has been a haunt off and on for about 36 years. They have a *small plate* menu list of some of the more popular items. The have Great Chicken Cacciatore I like it over a bed of Linguine. My better half loves their Eggplant Parmesan thin and crispy. Both their Chicken Escarole Soup and their Italian Wedding Soup are good, as are their house side salads.
You cannot beat these prices for the amount of food you get! The food may not be 5 star Italian but it tastes great! I have been here multiple times and there hasn't been a reason that has ever steered me from not coming back! The inside is a little out dated but you get a family owned business feel from it. Lastly, the staff are always super friendly!

The quality of the food has declined at this restaurant. The shrimp scampi was watery and unpleasant, and the staff were not very friendly.
