This was the only pub I visited in Oxford, that I wished I hadn't bothered with. It has a prime position on George street near lots of other bars, restaurants and the theatre but it doesn't make the most of this in my opinion. As I like to visit as many bars as I can, I have a lot of soft drinks, lemonade on this occasion, so I will not comment on the range or quality of the drinks, or indeed, the food. It was the vibe that was all wrong for me. All the other pubs in the area were buzzing whilst the Grapes was strangely quiet. The Nose Bag upstairs is reliable for very good,very big cakes, tasty and healthy looking food, and reasonable city centre cafe prices. Not eactly cheap, but a whole lot better than going to a big chain. It can be a slow process getting served, and seated because it is often busy, and its cafeteria style service, but that's mainly because people who know it go back there again and again. There is something very Oxford and local about it. The decor doesn't seem to ever change and it can feel a bit sticky, but that may be simply because of the amount of people that pass through. If you are in Oxford and need a tea and cake, or something a bit bigger I'd recommend it
The Nose Bag is one of the more traditional cafés in Oxford with its large wooden tables and chairs and small vases of flowers. This description is deceptive, however, as The Nosebag is far from ordinary. The food is what really sets this popular café apart as it is all home-made and very, very tasty. This café is an ideal destination if you fancy a cup of tea and a slice of cake (and what a selection there is to choose from) or if you would like something more substantial. As well as a varied array of salads, hot meals (for example lasagne, cottage pie etc) are offered.
As you enter and order food, you get a cafeteria like feeling. Food is displayed and the salad choices are so enticing. When you make your way to the seating/restaurant area, you feel instant warmth in relation to the tradition wooden beams and fantastic decor....pleasant place to sit. Lovely atmosphere . Good coffee too. Reasonable food prices.

The Nosebag is where I go whenever I am in Oxford, I have always been very well fed there as a vegetarian and so has my vegan mother and meat eating friends. It is informal and relaxed, the portions are good and the prices very reasonable. You can get very tasty vegan puddings and there are always a selection of salads to choose from.
jus the most amazing experience in this place. the tassen in which the drinks arrive are simply beautiful. the baked are so beautiful and there is something for everyone. the atmosphere is so friendly and warm. had a great time. there is a large selection of farm to table items that can be bought, as well as handmade dishes.
great place. clean, nutritious, quiet, fast and tasty. the large salad plate for £6.95 is delicious, selection from many salads that are all delicious. their pastries are great. the place is always very hygienic and the staff are always friendly. it is an oasis in oxford, and the building is super old and cute.
I visited this restaurant once and had a positive experience. However, it's worth noting that Yelp doesn't provide the exact location of the restaurant. A tip for finding it: approach from the south.
