Due to a computer glitch our reservation had got lost, but even though rammed with loads standing, several large Xmas meals in progress they cobbled together a table for us and supplied free drinks while we waited. The food was hot, tasty and came quite quickly. Watching the other orders coming out you could see that each looked great and well presented. The main servers were so nice and friendly and so apologetic that we were more than happy with the free drinks as compensation but were pleasantly surprised when they knocked 25% off our food bill as well All of the staff were friendly and welcoming and with a great selection of ales and guest beers and tasty food we could see why it was suc...
I had the pleasure to visit chester several times in the last few years. When I first came, I found this place while I explored the city. now no trip without visit is completed in this pub. several, preferably. this place is not a shady sport pub with many young people who scream together. no annoying loud music or Stag/hen parties. it is a cozy, respectable place with interesting beer and great eating. probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. dog-friendly. I can't wait until my next visit.
Quick and easy to book online. The pub had a great atmosphere, and was full even at 6 on a weekday night. No piped music, which added to the relaxed atmosphere and helped the conversation flow. There was a good selection of local beers, and the food was fresh and tasty. Special mention for the fish finger sandwich and marmalade ice cream! Staff were friendly and welcoming. I'd like to come back in the summer to enjoy a beer sitting outside by the canal.
Came into harkers on New Year's Eve at around half four for a meal with my partner. The atmosphere was lovely and all the staff despite being busy were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. The food (I had a burger and my partner had a roast) came out quickly and was absolutely delicious! Cannot recommend this place enough and can't wait to return!

A beautiful pub located on the canal side just a short walk from Chester train station. A cosy and friendly atmosphere, with a fantastic selection of food to choose from. The halloumi wrap was a tasty and perfect light lunch. Very attentive staff and excellent customer service. I would highly recommend a visit!
Service excellent, beer great choice, food delicious. I would recommend their dauphinois potato, fantastic! I had the lamb shoulder it was perfect, vegetables were very well cooked. The lamb left the bone clean. The meal was hot. The pub is clean and well presented Well done a wonderful experience
We had a very good meal, served by very friendly staff in an extremely busy English style traditional pub/restaurant. The menu is quite varied (I had the venison pie excellent and the choice of beers and other drinks is very good. Highly recommended.
Very attractive dining pub. We arrived late on a Wednesday evening and it was very busy but they found us a table and really looked after us. Food was top notch as were the 2 beers I sampled. If in Chester would definately go again.

Great lunch for wedding anniversary . Had the set menu which was amazing , very tasty, large portions and staff were so attentive even though it was very busy . Shout out to Lucy and Eve great service
