Great pub full of locals in November. We got a great price at the Algonquin in the off-season and did not want to pay the $36 and up prices at the Braxton restaurant (Algonquin). We found this little gem on Google, and it did not disappoint! For Thursday, we took advantage of the steak special: an 8oz sirloin and fries for $15. Again, we were not okay with paying $36 minimum per person at the Braxton restaurant, so we decided to go back. We shared three apps: the Lobster Dip, the crab cakes, and Fish chowder. The Lobster dip was out of this world, the chowder was alright, I wouldn’t really recommend the Fish cakes; nothing wrong with them, they just didn’t have much flavor.
I had fish and chips and a skewer of shirmp. Food was hot. Fish was Large. Batter was thick. It was cooked well. Personally me i like a thinner batter but the fish was still good. the shirmp wasnt over cooked it was DELICIOUS. Will be going back for a plate of shrimp! My bf had nachos. Came with salsa sour. Guac was extra but it was good! Server was Excellent. On the ball. Friendly easy to get along with and really liked our experience. Prices were good too. over all will be back.
We stopped in after a whale cruise, and it was the best decision. Staff were super friendly and seated us immediately. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the beers on tap and recommended some for us to try based on our favorites. We ordered a fish and (poutine) chips along with a lobster roll. Portions were huge and very tasty. Poutine was done just right. Best fish and chips we've had since we were in England! Definitely worth the visit.
The food is great, but the service is even better. Our server gave us recommendations on things to see and do while in town. After we left, the restaurant realized they had overcharged us by accident. Our server actually went up to our hotel and to the Kingsbrae gardens to return the overcharge to us. That was amazing! Went in for breakfast and won’t be coming back. I’ve never seen browner plates of food in my life. While the Benedict dishes on other folk’s tables looked decent, the waffles were burnt and the Monte Cristo was throughly forgettable. Service was fine, and dining area had a nice view of the town square.
Oh my! We were here in September and what an amazing experience. I had the best fish and chips I have had anywhere the fish was so big, crispy yet flakey . The scallops were so sweet and tender and our waitress was the best.The live music added a real nice touch to the already amazing experience.
In a town with great seafood you have to read between the lines. This is an outstanidng spot for fish a chips (a huge piece of haddock). Great chips, Freshly battered and fried clams and an interesting nd excellent order of fish cakes. Good beer selection, takes all credit cards.
Two for dinner midweek September. We thought we'd treat ourselves to the Lobster Rolls. That was a mistake. Cold bun, no seasoning, bland, dry with tasteless lobster. Great location, but the kitchen needs to try a little harder. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I would not recommend this place. The restaurant smelled of strong chemicals. Everyone chose to eat outside. The food was below average. The fries were dry and soggy. The waters were never refilled...
