We couldn't have picked a worse time to try out the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club ie on a Friday night visit (21st April)! It was a "members draw" night. We arrived after 6-30 pm to a noisy crowd of locals and most likely their local watering hole after a day out in the Bay. So getting back to the ambience - noisy and hard to hear for across the table conversations; even the local compare had to hush the crowd when announcing prize winners.. The table settings are normal "club" fare with plastic backed chairs; comfy without causing displeasure. Service is "order yourself" and buzzer notification for picking up meals.The Bar prices are expensive $12.20 for a schooner of Lazy Yak and schooner...
From the first phone call, to make a reservation, the staff member was friendly and helpful, which gives a good first impression. Our table was on the veranda with a fantastic view, and gently sea breezes. The weather was sunny and highlighted all the wonderful visual treats, including a bird's eye view of a small boat/ sailing regatta being undertaken. The service was excellent, and the gentlemen taking the orders were very calm and friendly, -- no request any trouble. The food was enjoyed by our party of 7 people, and just the right amount of content on the plate. The steak cooked to my request and very delicious. A very enjoyable time was had.
The views from the deck are incredible, no matter what the weather is like. Expansive views over Manly harbour which are superb. The staff are really helpful and drink and food prices really good. If you have a large group I suggest you book, because this "secret" little place is becoming popular. Excellent for Sundays when you can visit the Manly markets and walk to the club for a quiet drink or a lovely meal........
If you are looking for a place for casual dining or just a drink on a hot day this is a great place to visit. Expansive views of the activity on the bay and the relaxing atmosphere makes this a great place on a hot summer day. You can choose to sit on the deck or inside in the air conditioning. stopped here after our trip to St Helena Island and the lady at the door gave us a menu and said they were serving food so we went upstairs and ordered ..we were told only limited food was available ...the pizzas $20 each were not the best and we had cheesy garlic bread but we got plain and the wedges were ok..$80 worth of not that good food...
We had lunch here yesterday and when we ordered, we were told the wait time would be about 30/40 minutes...an hour later, we still had no food! I then had to ask where the food, was, which eventually arrived about 20 minutes later!,! Food not great, but serviced has a lot to be desired....maybe a few more kitchen hands
The final insult was when a young waitress came out with a raw sirloin steak and proceeded to explain that all these steaks had fat on the edges. Can believe I have lived 60 years without knowing what a sirloin steak looked like, poor show for a club we pay a fortune to belong to.
What a wonderful place to sit on the veranda overlooking the boats in the harbour and watching the exquisite colours of the afternoon fade into darkness. Add that with tasty food and happy hour house wine and it rates as a good and inexpensive experience. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Went during week for diner, so not overly crowded. Still 40 minutes to wait for food. I had garlic bread and beer battered barramundi. It was correct, price is ok, view is great.
