Frequented this establishment over 40 yrs ago and it had alot of charm then. Rumour had it that the pub was haunted and on one occasion we decided to take a picture from outside after closing hours in the pitch dark. Lo and behold lots of little floating orbs popped up in the window of the dark pub. Some looked like little faces. Truly a unique experience, but with close to a thousand years of travellers and drinkers coming through there , we were not surprised that maybe some decided to make it home ! There was a lovely fireplace in winter that warmed you as soon as you walked in out of the cold which made a pint of ale even more inviting. Truly the quintisential english pub that has never...
No question that this is a unique experience and absolutely worth the drive. It is a true pub experience, so fish chips are excellent but the bouillabaisse was somewhat underwhelming. On the other hand, the people are friendly and funny, the atmosphere is unique. A must-see if you’re anywhere within a few miles.
Lovely venue, however was extremely disappointed with our food. I ordered fish and chips £22) and was served it with fries which was not only bizarre but annoying especially for the price. The menu should have stated fish and fries, wasn’t very pleasant.
Food was very good I'm was so happy. Especially cauliflower For my partner what she is vegetarian. And Marta she was so friendly and she took care of us all the time and checked if we needed anything. Amazing job Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Breathtaking building internally, you can really feel the age and history of it. Food was very good and vast selection of beers and wines. We stopped in our motorhome for the night, thank you.
Amazing Sunday lunch, huge portions in a stunning quaint old pub with nooks and crannies. Svetlana the waitress was very smiley.
You are simply transported to the past. The fish chips are huge! It was delicious, and it was the size of Spielberg's shark.
