The meal at this restaurant was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. We opted for the tasting menu and enjoyed all 12 menu items. The dessert was exceptional. Our window seat by the open fire provided a picturesque view of the vineyards, especially stunning in autumn. The only downside was the artwork, which didn't quite fit the country setting of the historic building - it was more of a dated modern art style. However, art is subjective. We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly and well-informed. We decided to try the chef's tasting menu. One member of our party had a seafood allergy, but the staff happily accommodated his dietary needs. We were impressed to learn that many of the ingredients were organic and sourced from the restaurant's own vegetable garden. We will definitely be returning in the future.
The menu has a slightly odd mix of Asian inspired dishes and upmarket pub dishes e.g. beef pie. The food was good but not as good as the restaurants reputation would imply. I left a little disappointed because the Asian inspired section in particular didn't have the depth of flavour you would get from a chef steeped in the respective cuisines- it was a little insipid. A pleasant evening but not a wonderful evening of food.
The restaurant doesn't have specific labels for vegan food on the menu, but they are willing to accommodate vegan requests. We opted for the "Feed Me" option, which is listed at $90 per person on the menu, but they charged us $75 per person for a fully vegan meal, consisting of around 10 courses. Our favorite dishes were the dumplings and the kimchi pancake. The staff is friendly and the cocktails are excellent as well.

After a long drive with empty stomachs, we arrived at The Salopian Inn. The menu had so many tempting choices that we couldn't resist trying them all. Every dish we ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked. The ingredients were fresh and complemented each other well. We left The Salopian Inn with our bellies full and satisfied. I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant if you happen to be in the area.
Great for long lazy lunches with friends. Get a seat outdoors if possible to soak in the sunshine and fresh air whilst looking out at the McLaren Vale vineyards. The dumplings are the go-to dish, don't miss out and make sure you get an order in. Staff were really friendly and helpful, would come back. Book in advance if possible, otherwise you can call up to see if they are able to squeeze you in.
Finally, after living in the local area for sometime, the day arrived when we could experience and enjoy this award winning, well known quality Restaurant. The service, the venu and quality of food did not disappoint. Excellence all-around. Not sure why we had left it so long to experience this icon in the local McLaren Vale district. Will be back for more of the same, for sure.
The Salopian Inn has a beautiful atmosphere and aesthetic. The staff was very friendly and helpful and explained each dish in detail. The food is exquisite. We did the Feed me option which was a very generous amount of food. Every bite and taste was lovely and would definitely recommend to do this if you can. Will definitely try and come back when in the area.

Excellent service by Sarah for our 25th wedding anniversary. Great meals suitable for all dietary requirements. An amazing range of gins along with a substantial wine list. Portions were large, all dishes were tasty and waitpersons were very attentive. Would definitely return recommend
