I feel lucky to live in Elora, a charming town with a strong tourist economy which means that great little shops with welcoming shopkeepers are a stone’s throw from my door. I’d heard some good things about the relatively new tea room, The Secret Garden Tea House, so it’s been on my list to stop in. This morning I had the opportunity. On walking inside, it seemed clean and bright and cheery, if a little pretentious in the fastidious way in which the tables had been set. My mom and I came to Elora for a birthday tea and shopping day. What a pleasant surprise! Going for fancy tea is somewhat of a hobby for us and The Secret Garden did not disappoint. The service was excellent and friendly and we were very impressed with the attention to little details that made the experience special (napkins folded like roses, cheque presented in a secret garden book etc). When I made the reservation the staff asked if we were celebrating anything. When we arrived my Mom was greeted with a "happy birthday". I had the same experience as the person below in terms of being very poorly received at the door. Yes, I do understand that if one doesn't have a reservation, one might not be accommodated. That is fine. What the issue was today is the way in which we were made to feel for having the temerity to come in without a reservation. There was a distinct lack of graciousness in our exchange. Smugness is never attractive. As the reviewer below says, come winter when they are depending on locals to fill the seats, they just may find they remain empty. I hosted a bridal shower for 23 women on a Sunday afternoon. I had visited the tea house in May and just knew It would be the perfect setting for such an event. We had the whole room on the second floor to ourselves. The decor and the table settings with fine china made for a very favourable first impression for those just arriving. The staff are well trained, friendly and efficient and paced the party appropriately. High tea was served elegantly on a 3 tiered cake stands and the server carefully explained what each item contained. The food was plentiful and delicious. Just had a perfect March afternoon escape at The Secret Garden Tea House.The atmosphere is so quaint and welcoming. We were so pleased to be seated in front of the fireplace and were able to just relax and sip on our perfectly brewed tea.I have never had a better scone anywhere. The homemade jam and devonshire cream top it off perfectly.The tea sandwiches ( esp the family recipe egg salad) and decadent deserts are so yummy. You just want to take your time and savour every bite.My friends and I have already made plans to return!Thank you Secret Garden Tea House! It was a much needed break from a hectic world!

Discovered the Secret Garden Team Room for a birthday party celebration with a group of 24 ladies. It was an excellent venue and a "real" tea room. Details that made the experience wonderful and the party was held in the upper room. Service and food excellent, we were well looked after. The best tea room experience in our region for sure and enjoyed it as much as other high teas I have had (compared to the Empress in Victoria, the Royal York in Toronto, the Royal Yacht in Edinburgh and yes Buckingham Palace on a tour - all True!

I took my niece for high tea what a treat enjoyed it very much But One high tea would have been enough for the two of us . We order one each .If it had been suggested that it being our first visit about sharing the tea . It was lovely good choice of teas and of food ,the food was very yummy Lots of food very nice decore very comfy

I went with my friends for lunch. We each got a full pot of tea of our choice and a variety of sandwiches, scones with devon cream and jam and desserts all on fine china. A nice tasty surprise that fills you up. Will go back again. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Lovely environment. Great ambience. The sandwiches and scones are nice, but the treats/brownies etc looked like they came from zehrs. Great service. Friendly staff. The chicken croissants were superb!

the service was very good, the place was spotless the scones & tea were delicious !!! can't wait to go back and take our grand daughter there.
