And what a find. Originally tried to book into the Wetherspoons Hotel but, they were full. Love or Hate the 'brand ' Wetherspoons are normally good quality rooms. HOWEVER, booked into The Spread Eagle, and glad we did. I 've scrubbed the former off my 'list ' and The Spread Eagle will be the new 'go to ' for Chesterfield. Fantastic rooms, quality shower, comfortable beds and quality linen. Good selection of beer and ales, friendly atmosphere and Breakfast did not disappoint. Perfect start to the day. Could have done with half hour for earlier for breakfast, from a work point of view, as we caught the traffic at 8am. But that would not stop me staying again !!!
I used to call in here years ago but it's all been refurbished a couple of years ago. It's airy and classy with a welcoming atmosphere. We've eaten here several times and never been disappointed. There's a new menu on at the moment which isn't extensive but I feel that's a good thing. The kitchen is open so you can tell they are proud of their food. A couple of small observations I'd put forward would be it was a shame the special board isn't available anymore in the afternoon and I feel another staff member would be better as the lady (who is awesome) was having to serve, take orders, deliver food to tables etc. An easy 5 stars from us
So disappointed, when we arrived to check in for our three night stay, as booked over the phone to the manager a few months before, we were told that there was no booking found on their system. The manager was called and we were told that he was on his way in to sort the problem. The problem was that he didn’t write our booking down! We were offered a free drink and a nights stay in an unsuitable room but we declined as we needed three nights accommodation. We found somewhere else but it was considerably more. We will not be returning or recommending the Spread eagle again.
We found this little gem. First impressions not great but when you step inside all very nice. We stayed just the 1 night as we were passing through. Basic room but very comfortable. There were a couple of things not quite as clean as could be but on the whole lovely. Bar downstairs with really clean with revamped patio area. Breakfast was delicious. Stopped off here a couple of times recently. We had planned to eat on one occasion , only to be let down by a very Taxi and heavy traffic we were on a tight schedule .. However , we will try the Food at a later date , but we have enjoyed a drink here. Service is very good as is the ambiance and the range of drinks. We will certainly return.
Well! What an absolutely gem! From a warm welcome when we arrived, to a stunning room, and finishing with a gorgeous full English breakfast included in the price! Thank you very much. We will 100% be retuning!
Enjoyed an excellent overnight stay including evening meal. Very good food and excellent host. Room was spot on too. Will be my go to choice if again visiting Chesterfield.
