I want to start off saying, I’m not slamming the bar/restaurant… but be aware of how much you’re charged. We had dinner reservations at 5pm and arrived early. Decided to have a drink in the bar. Bought two cocktails looked at the prices as signing the credit card receipt. Noticed one was $15, okay thought a little high but they know the prices. Right? The rest of party arrived and we were seated. Our server was wonderful and attentive. At the end of our meal she brought over individual bills which was great we asked for when originally seated. My friend goes to the restroom and leaves me $100 to pay for her bill. As I put the money inside the bill holder, I notice the same cocktail I bought...
This well-known fine dining restaurant in St. Paul has reopened for dinner after a long break, and it is just as fantastic as ever! The atmosphere is lovely, whether you choose to dine in the classic dining room or the beautiful bar. The attention to detail on the entrees is outstanding, making it difficult to choose between the options. I enjoyed both the KC strip and the Shrimp Scampi on separate visits, both of which were deliciously prepared. The Shrimp Scampi, in particular, was served without pasta but was very satisfying and had a perfectly balanced and flavorful sauce. I am glad that the st. paul grill is open again! the vibe is alive with a steady rhythm of a well-trained personal. the service was top notch and the food was excellent (both in the presentation and at the palate.) we ordered a dozen oysters, wobble soup, a wedge salad, scallops, filet mignon and a burned cream brulee, along with a few martinis. everything was perfect. a thing that is acoustic to observe, it is a bit loud so if someone in their party is hard to hear, this place can be difficult for them.
The St Paul Grill is a classic fine dining experience. We had a very good experience overall, however the food fell just a bit short of the 5 star experience we were hoping for. My wife's trout and beet salad were good not great. My pot pie was exceptional and our guests enjoyed their meals. The waitress was very attentive. We had a couple of misses on the taste of the drinks. They replaced one without question. I will still recommend this place, we just had higher expectations based on the price.

Very overpriced for mediocre food what you’d expect for a captive audience at this landmark hotel in the middle of the country. All so worn out ‘fancy’ American hotel meal. The Caesar was more dressing than greens. The reduction on the pork chop had too much burnt taste. The slaw had no flavor. I ordered another different salad which was average. The cocktail was ok, difficult to screw up bourbon and ice.
We'd arrived in late from a flight and because the dining room closed at 8.30pm had little choice on where we would eat. The waitress was really good. The food I found was average. My parents thought it the worst food they've had on the trip. It was also pricey for what you get. A house white wine was $14. The bar looked well stocked with spirits.
Whenever we are in the city, we always make sure to dine at the St. Paul Grill located in the Saint Paul Hotel. The restaurant exudes elegance and the staff provide exceptional service. The food is meticulously prepared and incredibly tasty. During our last lunch visit, we enjoyed the walleye and a BLT with fries, both of which were delicious.
Filet was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. The Brussel sprouts were crispy while not being over cooked. The Au gratin potatoes were amazing as well, super creamy. I didn’t care for the sangria but that is more of a pallet issue than an issue with the drink they served. The service was pleasant and quick and I look forward to going back.

our meal was wonderfully parmesan combated healbutt and pan meerroten skallops; our friend had walleye. the bar is incredible and has a great selection of ghosts! discover all the way!
The wonderful staff made sure we got seats at the bar for dinner. The bartender is likely the best in the state.
