We first came to the Store a few years ago, and fell greedily upon their perfect home made soup and toasties. Today was a leisurely lunch kind of day, so we decided to kick back and share the seafood platter for two. What a good choice! Spanking fresh, fabulously prepared, lots to go at. The herring was great, nice and strong on the dill. Oodles of little pink prawns, sweet and salty; generous slices of smoked salmon, and perfect smoky nackerel paté. Good bread and splendid salad, with extra points for a smashing slaw. This was plenty enough gor two, but we're greedy hogs and had a bowl of chips, too. While driving on the NC500, we noticed signs for The Store along the main road and decided to stop for lunch. The restaurant was easy to find thanks to the clear signage. Upon arriving, we received a warm welcome and felt right at home. The cozy interior with a log burner added to the inviting atmosphere. We both ordered the burger, which was generously sized and came with a generous serving of fries. We also enjoyed delicious homemade cakes from their selection. Overall, it was a lovely visit and we highly recommend The Store. The welcoming atmosphere and fantastic food made for a great experience.
On a rainy and windy October day, while traveling from Ullapool to Orkney, we were pleasantly surprised by a warm and friendly welcome at a cafe after miles of wilderness. We were greeted by a roaring log fire, delicious coffee, and the best smoked salmon sandwiches we've ever tasted. The lovely team running the cafe, especially the exceptional junior waitresses, made our experience even more enjoyable. This hidden gem just off the main road is not to be missed.
I live locally in Thurso and have tried the fish and chips once, which were fabulous, as well as the coffee and cake several times. I recently booked an evening meal for my 62nd birthday and had the surf and turf, which included fresh local lobster, a lovely fillet steak, great chips, and trimmings. It was a huge plateful and the best meal I've had in a long time. I highly recommend this restaurant as a hidden gem in the North West corner of Scotland.

Loved loved loved this place. It was incredible--so much to look at on the shelves around us and delicious homey food to eat (even for our gluten-free son). Everyone dining at this small place seemed so happy--we chatted with another traveler, whose dog sat quietly and happily in the corner, welcomed by the staff and greeted by all the diners. The perfect stop!
Wow ! I don’t know how to describe this place . It’s a shop , cafe , and bar . We had the most generous welcome and the food was amazing . The staff were brilliant , and we sat by the real fire playing snakes and ladders on our NC500 trip . Please call in and see for your self how great this place is .
5 city folk popped in for a meal. Not expecting how wonderful this place is. The food was amazing, you could tell it was all freshly cooked and hand prepared. Burgers and Halloumi Salad! THANK YOU! Ps best hand cut chips (triple fried?? we’ve ever had!
When they say open 365 days…they mean it! When they say 0900 opening…they mean that too!!! An oasis of munchies, coffee and heat…on the NC500find this place and visit…definitely!!!

So easy to miss a modest restaurant like this but don't. The internal decor is eclectic the menu and beverages fantastic and servings too generous.
