We came again to this establishment because we had a great experience the last time. Unfortunately it didn’t occur this time. Our reservation was 2 hours before our show across the street. We made this abundantly clear to our server so we didn’t have to slam our food down at the last second in order to make it to our show on time. But that’s exactly what happened. We had a new server that I think was overloaded on purpose, to see how he could handle it. This resulted in a poor experience for my friends, family and myself. If you want quite, have them seat you upstairs where we were. If you want service, you probably should be seated on the main floor.
had a reservation of 5:30 o'clock. was sitting on a high top side, looking to have a regular table sitting due to the recent hip surgery, and was said, no, they are all reserved. we just asked for another table, not for someone's reservation. the service was slow. hot food was raumtemp. server was usually absent but never gave a reason why. had to ask for water. ask for our check. ask if dirty dishes are removed. never offered coffee or dessert. the table next to us ordered drinks and ended their meal served before they ever got them. she had to ask again and again. very disappointed. I never have to go back.
Swire Inn is a perfect place for friends and family to meet. The service is great and the food and drinks are exceptional. The renovated historic building in old downtown Middletown has the feel of an authentic Irish or Scottish pub. Highly recommended that you experience this restaurant if you haven’t yet done so. You won’t be disappointed!
My wife and I tried the Swire Inn for the first time and we are really glad we did. The atmosphere is awesome and the food and drinks are fantastic. The staff is very friendly and give us excellent service. I highly recommend the Swire for anyone who wants to relax in a retro style pub/restaurant. A hidden gem in Middletown. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. Service was good, waiter seemed a little overwhelmed but that is to be expected at this time with lack of staff all around. We can't wait to get back to try additional items.
the swire inn is always a great place to meet friends and family. eating is fantastic and the service is attentive and friendly. highly recommended for drinks at the bar or in the picturesque dining room. it is a great place!
always a good experience. shelby and autumn were super! shelby made good drinks behind the bar, and autumn was attentive to our dining room needs in a timely wise.

Nice outside seating. Good drinks. Good food. Nice evening during the week. Weekend they have live music on the patio.
