Lovely pub. Excellent food. Service could’ve been improved ie when you hand the menu out tell the customer what’s not available then rather than when they’ve made their choice only to be told it’s not available. Please ask those who order nut roast if they’re vegetarian or vegan rather than assuming and not giving them cauliflower cheese! I’m not vegan/vegi I just love nut roast bur I LOVE cauli cheese it was a bit embarrassing to be told I wouldn’t get it but then I do but now three of us are to share the tiniest pot although you did offer to bring another one. Drinks took a fair while to come. But overall small grumbles as the pub/food is great.
We visited this pub for a Sunday roast, and I’ve always been a fan of it. However, my last two visits have not lived up to my expectations. The food was just average both times, whereas it used to be fantastic. The young servers were wonderful and their friendliness helped to offset the rather unwelcoming atmosphere, which I can only attribute to the owners or management. It’s disappointing to encounter owners who lack a smile or any sense of customer service. Rating for the food: 4.
Busy country pub..went there after a walk at the White horse.. obviously short staffed the day we went. Atmosphere felt tense, (chef and bar person *talking* outside kitchen door in bar about an issue.. felt this a bit unprofessional as I'd rather not have been privy to it) Vege choices were limited as usual. This is a fantastic pub! It's very cozy by the fire during the winter and has a nice outdoor area. They’re also dog-friendly, which is a big plus. Plus, there's a lovely farm shop right next door.
